LAS VEGAS -- MMA Fighting spoke to Nick Diaz on Wednesday about whether he enjoyed the road to UFC 137, why he expected something bad to happen to him prior to the Georges St-Pierre fight, why he...
and
Diaz seems like he is in a weird place right now..
Yeah but that interview was beyond what we've seen before. He almost looks like a broken man. The way he's constantly looking down and mumbling, we're not used to seeing him looking at the floor the whole time. Usually he is looking all over the place and speaking with more volume but here it looks like he's afraid to piss someone off. He's the scolded child right now.

He said that when he started training for the Matt Hughes fight he was getting thrown around by the welterweights and now he is holding his own. Pretty interesting. Also, it sounds like it is still a 3 round affair.
It's definitely still three rounds. Dana said they they wouldn't change fights that were previously scheduled for three rounds to five rounds because it wasn't fair to the fighters who were training for three rounds already.

I agree that it seems like something is up with Diaz in that interview. Some of it was hard to hear, but did he say that he was the title holder in SF and that he's had a great career and that that's enough for him? Is he thinking about calling it quits? Is his heart not in it?
He definitely said all that. He seemed more interested when they asked about the triathalon training than when they mentioned if he wanted the title shot. Plus he's talking about how BJ is so good and so tough because they come from the same place(I'm not so sure what the fuck he's talking about there aside from Gracie jiu jitsu). He literally looked like a kid forced to apologize to someone though. Slouching, head down, the mumbling.

I thought it was interesting when he said (regarding the BJ fight and whether or not he wanted out of the GSP fight) that if there was a fight where he was going to fake an injury then the BJ fight would be the one.
