Not sure how this fight will play out, but Nelson isn't the type of big athletic guy like Schaub that will just power through a double leg to get Cro Cop down. In fact I don't think Nelson even shoots doubles or singles, from what I have seen he gets his opponents down by clinching with him and getting the trip..I might be wrong though. I don't remember off the top of my head but did Mir even get Cro Cop down once? Mir was able to dominate in the clinch against Nelson (something I would not have thought after seeing Mir/Cro Cop). If Cro Cop was able to stifle Mir in the clinch, I think he has a shot at stifling Nelson in the clinch. I'll have to unfortunately watch Mir/Cro Cop again. Mirko showed some aggressiveness against Schaub and didn't look AS tentative as he has been.

I support Fat Roy. Everyone who isn't champ hits their ceiling eventually - doesn't mean they should all try to totally change their game. And for better or worse, being a overweight "everyman" has become Nelson's brand. Dana may not like it, but that's just part of the territory that comes with running a sport that's half "sport" and half "sports entertainment".

I am curious to see what kind of shape Roy is in. Dana seemed like he was more or less impying that Roy needs to either get in shape or get the hell out of the ufc. Can't blame him personally. Regardless, the striking edge has to go to Cro cop. This will probably be the first time in a while that cro cop won't be fighting someone who has him beat in the striking or size areas( Schaub size, Mir size, Pat striking, Junior size striking, Cheick definetly size). Outside from those matchups he does actually do pretty well. I am sure he will be an underdog too. I doubt he can knock out Roy also. Given the fact that he will be a dog, probably +200 or less, CC by decision will probably be +300 to +400 and worth a bet.

If Cro Cop is a decent sized dog I'll probably be on him

I just hope crocop doesn't get knocked out. Guy has been through enough.

You could probably have said something similar about Schaub, though.

I think Cro Cop still has pretty decent takedown defense and defense on the ground. His problem is that he just doesn't seem to be a good striker anymore. He has almost no offense left.

I honestly have no idea what happens in that one. I'm not even going to pick a side.

    Loser leaves town match?

We all know Mirko's situation and Dana made it clear he was not pleased with Roy's last performance.

Although many called for him to retire from active MMA competition, fan-favorite, Mirko "Cro Cop" appeared on the Croatian sports TV show "Gol" last night to discuss his career and announce that he would be given one more UFC fight, and that will come in October at UFC 137 against Roy "Big Country" Nelson.
