I actually agree here. To me, it is like the Rampage-Jones and KOS-Hughes lines. People thought those lines were stupid. But i kept saying to myself, out of 10 fights, does Page beat Jones 2 or 3 times. No, the number I came up with was 0.
i think Cruz is just that much better than DJ.Leave a comment:

I'm not so sure it is stupid.
Don't you think Cruz beats him at least 8 out of 10 times?
I imagine he beats him 10 out of 10 times. Just seems like MM is one step behind in every area. Maybe MM wins 1 in 15 or 20 by catching a sub or landing a punch, but that's it.Leave a comment:

I kinda like TBA over Aaron Rosa.
Also liking Brenneman, Roller, and Michael Johnson.
Maybe Wiman, Edwards (can he force a stand up fight like Winner did?), and Hougland.Leave a comment:

Dominick Cruz (No. 1 BW, No. 9 PFP) vs. Demetrious Johnson (No. 6 BW)
Charlie Brenneman vs. Anthony Johnson
Stefan Struve vs. Pat Barry
Yves Edwards vs. Rafaello Oliveira
Shane Roller vs. T.J. Grant
Matt Wiman vs. Mac Danzig
Paul Sass vs. Michael Johnson
Jeff Hougland vs. Mike Easton
Aaron Rosa vs. TBA
Josh Neer vs. Keith Wisniewski
Walel Watson vs. Joseph Sandoval
Anything stand out? I like Wiman at close to even odds. I would bet Brenneman at even or +. Johnson should be able to beat Sassangle by forcing a fight on the feet and staying out of his guard. Basically these are all close fights IMO. Barry/Struve is the only one that seems obvious to me (is that still on? seems like i recall an injury or something). I am going to put something on MM, just because of the line being so stupid.Last edited by MMA_scientist; 09-26-2011, 01:36 PM.Leave a comment:

Word.I think Angle was always a HW. He looked big to me, but maybe that was the point -- to have someone who looked like a monster in there.
Anyway, it was definitely the best "MMA" movie I've seen. It was just generally done very well overall, a good character movie. Ultimately, a lot of the implausibility did weigh on me. Most sports drama movies only ask you to believe in one crazy underdog making it to the top, this one asked the audience to believe in two. And of course, all the other unlikely MMA details... Still, those things didn't totally ruin it for me, unlike (say) Redbelt.
I thought it was good overall. I enjoyed it and thought it was a "good" movie -- well acted, well written, well made. Yes, there was some implausibility in the story, but for the most part I was happily along for the ride and well invested.
The critics also liked it:
As for Redbelt, I agree that it was disappointing, but I didn't hate it. The tying-the-arm-up thing was really the worst part about it. That was mega-gay. But other than that, it was a decent Mamet film.Leave a comment:
