Indian Cowboy's Picks For College Basketball

    3-Unit Play. #516 Take DePaul +2.5 over Villanova (Tuesday @ 7pm est)

3-Unit Play. #517 Take Youngstown State -2 over Cleveland State (Tuesday @ 7pm est)

Oliver Purnell's team is 1-7 in conference play and although that looks disappointing, if you look at the actual games and the splits you can tell this team is improving. This is a team that lost in overtime to Notre Dame, lost to overtime against St. John's and lost to Cincinnati by 5 points. Villanova had a pair of huge wins over Syracuse and Louisville both at home but have lost their last two games to Notre Dame and Providence. This is one of the bigger public fades on the board as well and though Villanova is a very good team they are outside the top 300 when it comes to turnover percentage and Depaul is top 160 in turnover margin and also a decent defense at top 120. If Depaul can keep this a half-court game, I suspect the edge goes to the home team here who could win this game outright. Youngstown State is a team that is top 70 in turnover margin which is one of my favorite categories to keep tabs with. This team comes off a tough loss to Detroit on the road but still sits at 5-4 in conference play. State is a squad that does well against teams outside the top 200 on the road including beating Bowling Green 58-49 earlier in the year and Bethune Cookman 67-51. I like the small favorite to do well here on the road and wouldn't be surprised to see them have a tie game most of the way and then pull ahead in the second half.

Indian Cowboy's Picks For NBA Basketball

3-Unit Play. Take Over 216.5 Golden State vs. Houston (Tuesday @ 8:05pm est).

Golden State put up 114 and 108 against Toronto and Cleveland and now as they face an up-tempo offense against Houston you'd have to think that the energy level would be more to exceed that point total. Add on the fact that State is the Underdog going into this game and you have the possibility of an active underdog that could push this game over the posted total. Put it this way, if State wins this game its going to be through being an active underdog and pushing this game over the posted total and in the same token if Houston wins this game its going to behind their offensive output as well. With both these teams sporting such young talent from top down as part of their youth movement, I like both teams to get after it as Coach Jackson will believe his young athletes are likely superior to Houston's lineup and obviously Houston knows only to play in one way which is a high tempo constant dribble offense. The Over is 5-0 for the Warriors in their last 5 road games and the Over is 8-0 when Houston plays a winning team at home.

Indian Cowboy's Picks For NHL Hockey

6-Unit Play. #53. Take New York Rangers -120 over New Jersey (Tuesday @ 7:05pm est).

The rivalry is back on for the first time since May 25, when Adam Henrique's overtime winner in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals lifted the Devils into the Stanley Cup Final. They also won't meet again until March 19. The "Blue Shirts" win in Tampa Bay was their best performance of the season to date as New York did a much better as far as puck protection, on the boards, especially offensively. The Rangers had some more offensive zone time, were more disciplined and line changes were better. It's a good bet that Henrik Lundqvist will return between the pipes for Tuesday's game. Lundqvist is the team's MVP and solving his mastery in between the pipes is never easy. The Rangers also made a trade Monday to bolster their forward depth, sending little-used Mike Rupp to Minnesota in exchange for Darroll Powe and minor-leaguer Nick Palmieri. New Jersey held an optional practice Monday in which only seven players participated. The Devils are in the middle of eight games in (14) days, four this week and four next week. Since these teams met in the Stanley Cup Playoffs HC Peter DeBoer lost two assistant coaches: Adam Oates and Larry Robinson. Oates left to become coach of the Washington Capitals and Robinson joined the San Jose Sharks as an associate coach and Captain Zach Parise departed, signing a 13-year, $98 million contract with the Minnesota Wild on July 4.

            3 Unit Play. Take #504 Brooklyn -2 ½ over LA Lakers (7:35 p.m., Tuesday, February 5)
Anytime we can fade the Lakers on the road we will bite! Tonight the Lakers travel to Brooklyn to play the Nets and I see a big game from D-Williams and Brook Lopez. The Lakers have won back-to-back road games but those two teams were the Pistons and Wolves and the Brooklyn Nets are not Detroit or Minnesota. Brooklyn has won 2 out of 3 games and their only loss lately was against Miami so tonight at home I see a big game from the home team and Brooklyn wins this game by 6-points or more. Lakers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 gams against Atlantic division teams.

4-STAR HOUSTON -2.5 over Golden State- Both these teams come into the game playing well, but Golden State has done it on fumes. They usually are able to use speed to their advantage but it won't be against Houston and the home Rockets should be able to get this one.
Golden State comes in off a 113-93 win over Phoenix Saturday. They had 34 assists in the victory. The Warriors are 0-9 ATS (-6.8 ppg) since February 19, 2010 after a double digit win in which they had at least thirty assists.
Stephen Curry had eight of those but played 42 minutes despite the huge margin of victory. The Warriors are 0-7-1 ATS (-10.6 ppg) since April 06, 2010 on the road with at least a day of rest after a win in which Stephen Curry played more than 40 minutes.
Houston defeated Charlotte, 109-95, Saturday. Jeremy Lin had nine points and eight dimes while every other starter had at least 19 points. The Rockets are 7-0 ATS (12.1 ppg) since November 12, 2012 at home after a win at home in which Jeremy Lin was not the Rockets' high scorer.
That included a big game from Omer Asik with 19 points and 15 rebounds. The Rockets are 6-0 ATS (19.0 ppg) since December 04, 2012 after a win in which Omer Asik had a double double.
SPORTSBOOK BREAKERS PREDICTION: HOUSTON 111, Golden State 102
4-STAR LA Lakers and Brooklyn Under - LA has finally started to realize that the best way to go is not necessarily a fast paced game. The totals haven't quite caught up to that yet leaving some value with the under. When these teams have met the past few years its led to a string of unders. The Lakers are 0-6 OU (-9.4 ppg) since November 29, 2009 versus the Nets.
LA comes into this one having won two straight games, both on the road. The Lakers are 0-9 OU (-9.7 ppg) since December 21, 2010 when they won their last two games and both were on the road.
The last wasn't easy as they nearly blew a huge lead in a 98-97 win in Detroit. Teams coming off a 1-2 point win where they had led by at least 15 points are 92-141-3 OU.
With Dwight Howard out for both games, Pau Gasol played well going for 22 and 12 and 23 and 10 in the two wins. The Lakers are 0-10 OU (-16.4 ppg) since February 08, 2009 on the road after two away wins in which Pau Gasol had a double double in each.
The 23 points in Detroit were a game-high for LA. The Lakers are 0-5 OU (-17.7 ppg) since February 07, 2011 after a win on the road in which Pau Gasol was the Lakers' high scorer.
Brooklyn enters off a 93-89 win over Chicago back on Friday. Kris Humphries was phased out of that game with just a lone point in seven minutes of action. The Nets are 0-8-1 OU (-13.3 ppg) since November 11, 2012 with at least a day of rest after a win in which Kris Humphries scored fewer than 10 points.
When these teams met in November, LA won 95-90. Deron Williams had 22 points and 10 assists in that loss. The Nets are 0-6-1 OU (-9.1 ppg) since February 20, 2012 after losing the previous matchup in which Deron Williams had at least 10 assists. SPORTSBOOK BREAKERS PREDICTION: LA Lakers 91, BROOKLYN 87
