RATING: SINGLE DIME PLAY
Kansas had a win and no cover in their opening game on Friday as they slept walked thru game with W. Kentucky. That lackluster effort is understandable as Kanas had just won the Big 12 Conference Tournament. That in itself was satisfying but winning it while beating your arch rival Kansas St in blowout style made it even better. The fact that they beat Kansas St for the 3rd time in the same year set Kansas up for a flat effort on Friday. Today it will be all business and that's bad for N. Carolina who isn't as good as last year's team who lost by 13 to Kansas in this very same tournament. It's groundhog day as Kansas wins again by 13 or more.

PLAY: MISSISSIPPI/LA SALLE OVER
RATING: DOUBLE DIME PLAY
This was very close to being a Triple Play for me but given we lost our Triple yesterday we are showing some restraint by keeping this a Double play. Both teams are coming off of UPSETS and both of them did it against teams that like to play at a slower tempo. Today we have 2 teams that are extremely happy to be still playing. To use the phrase they are playing with house money today. Think about it if Mississippi didn't win the SEC Conference Tournament they may not of even got into the Tournament. LaSalle had to play on Wednesday in the play in game just to be in the Tournament. With that said now that both are here and advanced to today I expect both of these teams to play to their natural character and be more loose without the pressure they had just to get here. Vegas agrees with me as they set this total higher than both teams last games and both games went way under the total. So why such an adjustment on the total? Simple because this is going to be a fast paced game. It will be smart on Mississippi's part to push the tempo because LaSalle is playing their 3rd game in 5 days. They played on Wednesday in Dayton then had to fly to Kansas City to play on Friday. Also remember that in the the 1st round games teams have 4 or 5 days to prepare a game plan and practice it. When you play the second game it's one day prep so you generally can't work things into your game plan to stop the other team as well in just one day which generally will lead to more scoring. Also 2 games in 3 days leads to fatigue and tired teams don't play as hard on defense as it takes more energy to play defense than offense. My numbers say we will see 148 or more poiÅnts here.
