(725) LA SALLE (+4.0, ov142.0)
(726) MISSISSIPPI (-4.0, un142.0) Sunday, Mar 24 2013, 04:40 PM PST
Take " (726) MISSISSIPPI "
I'm backing Ole Miss on Sunday. La Salle has knocked off Boise State & Kansas State to reach this contest. The Explorers would have beaten most teams in their first two with the way they shot against Boise and in the first half of the Kansas State game. La Salle made 49-of-80, 61% of their FGA in the Boise game and the first half of the K-State contest, combined. But the bloom came off the rose and the Explorers made just 3-of-18 FGA over the final 20 minutes against the Wildcats. The Explorers are not a deep team and will now face an Ole Miss squad that held this season's opponents to 40.5% shooting, including 31% from behind the arc. The Rebels average over 77 ppg (11th in the nation in scoring) and face a La Salle squad that ranks 302nd in the nation allowing teams to make over 45% of their FGA. La Salle has also been out-rebounded in each of their last five games by an average of 31-22, including 11-5 on the offensive boards. With shooting going in the dumper in the second half against K-State, playing against a high scoring Ole Miss team that can also "D-up," and the fact that La Salle is weak on the glass and without much depth puts me squarely on the side of the Rebels. Ole Miss is 9-1 ATS off an upset win. They're 8-1 ATS against teams that make at least 45% of their shots on the season and the Rebels are on a 5-0 ATS run, overall. I'm backing Ole Miss, minus the points on Sunday. Thanks! GL! Scott Spreitzer.
