Kansas and North Carolina have met twice and Bill Self has got the better of the team both times having his team win by 13 and 18. It is no accident that these two teams were put on the same side of the bracket to face each other. After it all, it makes college basketball that much more fun to put Roy Williams against his former program no matter how many years ago it was. College Basketball is about storylines and this is one such one today. Kansas did not play well against Western Kentucky and I suspect that poor play will play a big role into their playing well today. Kansas consistently gets up to play the better teams in the league and has a tendency to play down to bad teams. As much as I like this year's North Carolina team, this is the same team that lost to Miami twice this season and by more than 20 to Indiana on the road. If North Carolina thought Miami's defense was tough at top 20 in the nation, Kansas is ranked top 10 in the nation and it might be tough sledding for them today. Kansas loves to play big named opponents and I wouldn't be surprised to see Kansas likely win and cover this game as Bill Self is one of the best big game coaches in America. The Tar Heels are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 contests against the Big12 and the Jayhawks are 5-0 ATS when facing teams with a winning percentage of 60% or better.

Tough loss by a 1/2 point on the Bulls game. Unnecessary foul by Hinrich put the game at 3 instead of a 4 point win. Regardless, let's bounce-back today:

Minnesota is in a good spot here against the Bulls. The Bulls come off a nice win against the Pacers at home with revenge and coming off a bad loss and look to have a possible let down as they go on the road to Minnesota. The Timberwolves are still without some stars but they are playing better of late as they are getting their wings beneath them so to speak with depth as it relates to this roster. This is a good public fade and Minnesota is .500 on the year at home to their credit which is tough to do in the west and they will get up for Chicago here one would think at home. Chicago beat this team by 7 points earlier this year 87-80 and now this is a revenge spot for Minnesota who returns home after winning 1of 3 contests on the road after blowing out Phoenix after a tight contest with Sacrament on the road. Minnesota has quietly covered 4 of their last 5 contests and don't be surprised to see them do well here at home. The Bulls have 31 losses this year and have not put back to back wins in quite some time in at least two weeks and as they come off a win and with Minnesota returning home after the 3 game road trip, look for Minnesota to do well here. Chicago also has Miami on their docket at home in their next game so they are likely not as focused on this contest as they are probably looking ahead to that contest as well.

The Isles often ride the play of John Tavares as he led the Islanders to one of the best records in the NHL in the second half of last season and also return a young team that should get even better. Florida's new HC Kevin Dineen is a former NHL standout and he drew high praise for his work in the American League with Portland. Florida, with its overhauled roster, was looming as one of the early-season surprises then came the wave of injuries. The Panthers are coming to Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Uniondale, New York off a revenge game with New Jersey last night, in a game which they played their tails off.
