triple-dime bet
972 Texas (-117) Hilton vs 971 ANA Analysis: LA ANGELS @ TEXAS
Tommy Hanson makes his Angels debut on Saturday in Texas against Matt Harrison and the Rangers. Hanson could be in for a very long day in Arlington. Conditions are expected to be very windy in Arlington with gusts up to 30 mph. Hanson posted a 1.01 GB/FB ratio last season. He posted a well above average HR/FB% of 13.5%, allowing 1.39 HR/9. The windy conditions could make life difficult for the outfielders with Hanson's tendency to give up fly balls. On the flip side, Rangers starter Matt Harrison posted a 1.58 GB/FB ra¥tio and induced ground balls 49% of the time. Ground balls can be a problem in the summer months at Rangers Ballpark because the infield gets very hard, but it shouldn't be a big problem at this point in the season.
This will also mark Hanson's first start in the American League and pitchers almost always struggle transitioning from the NL to the AL. Harrison had good stuff in his first start with nine strikeouts in 5.2 innings, but the balls put in play found holes. Harrison also has the advantage of having pitched a game already to work out some of the kinks, while Hanson had a hard time through the spring and hasn't pitched since March 30. He left hurt in his March 20 spring start and didn't pitch for 10 days, so he has only pitched once in a Major League game since March 20.
An afternoon game should help the ball carry better and that's another bad sign for Hanson. All of the red flags are with Hanson, while Harrison will be motivated to pick up his first win of the season and should have some run support to pitch with.
3-Unit Pick Take #61 Boston (-1.05) over Montreal (7pm, Saturday, April 6th)
This is a big showdown in the Northeast Division with Boston one point behind the Canadiens but the Bruins do have a game in hand. Montreal edge came last week after coming back to beat Boston trailing by two goals to win in a shootout that gives them a one point advantage. Boston plays their second game with Jaromir Jagr he scored a fluke goal in a 1-0 win vs New Jersey in his debut. The Bruins were actually outplayed by the Devils but still escaped with the win. I expect the Bruins to be sharper tonight, I know this is a tough environment to play in but with some much on the line for both teams tonight I just like the physical style of Boston and think that they're a deeper hockey team. Look of some payback from the Bruins tonight and we have some value in the line after Boston was listed a -1.65 home favorite last week, I do understand the adjustment but I think it is too much for a home ice that really doesn't come into play.
2-Unit Pick Take #55 Edmonton (+1.60) over Los Angeles (4pm, Saturday, April 6th)
The Oilers have blossomed winning five of their last six with that lost coming in their last game losing at Vancouver 4-0 with the Canucks getting some payback after the Oilers beat them 4-0 in one of those five wins. The Oilers are in the playoff race with a group of kids who have a tremdous future ahead of them. The Oilers get the defending Cup champs as they visit Los Angeles today to play the Kings, the Kings are off beating a tired Minnesota team but L.A hasn't been sharp lately losing to Phoenix and Dallas two average teams. I think Edmonton will give Los Angeles all they can handle today and I will take that plus price this afternoon.
