It has been a rough season for all three Michigan MAC teams this year as Central Michigan leads the group at just 3-6. The statistics are ugly overall for Central Michigan, out-gained by over 100 yards per game but blowout losses to major conference teams skew the numbers. The Chippewas have put up decent scoring against some of the top teams in the conference, putting up 67 points the last three games against three of the better teams in the MAC. Despite the poor record, Central Michigan will actually be favored in each of the final three games so getting to 6-6 is still a possibility and this is a key piece to that puzzle, seeking to avenge losing back-to-back seasons in this series. Western Michigan won 42-31 last season in Mt. Pleasant but Central Michigan had more yards and this may be a tough follow-up game for the Broncos after losing to Eastern Michigan in overtime last week. Western Michigan has only scored 17 points per game this season with little semblance of a running game and the 63 points scored the last two games came against two of the worst teams in the nation. Western Michigan leads the MAC in penalties as this is an undisciplined team with 73 penalties compared to just 39 for Central Michigan and the Broncos are the second worst teams in the conference against the run. Running back Zurlon Tipton returned to action last week after being injured early in the season and he was one of the best players in the MAC last season, scoring 20 touchdowns and rushing for almost 1,500 yards. He add the piece of the offense that the Chippewas have been missing to go along with star freshman quarterback Cooper Rush who is second in the conference in yardage and has shown improvement after some early season struggles. In every game against a FBS team that has won more than two games for the season Western Michigan has been out-gained by at least 115 yards. Central Michigan has solid edges on both sides of the ball on a yards-per-play basis in this matchup and the Chippewas have won twice on the road this season. This is hardly a difficult place to play as Western Michigan has lost S/U and ATS in six straight home games, going 11-20-2 ATS at home since 2007 and just 2-16-2 ATS as a home underdog since 2000.

The Owls lost 56-37 in this matchup last season so this should be a big game for the West division contenders. Losing to North Texas in the last game was costly in the standings but Rice has had two weeks to prepare for this homecoming date. Rice out-gained North Texas by over 100 yards in that game but North Texas had two non-offensive touchdowns. That also was a fourth road game in five weeks and on a short week with a Thursday night game. Rice is one of the better rushing teams in the nation with 223 yards per game on 4.8 yards per rush and the Owls have won all three home games this season, beating Kansas from the Big XII, a Florida Atlantic team that has been much tougher than anyone expected and blowing out UTEP 45-7. Louisiana Tech won by just three against UTEP and the only games in which the Bulldogs have scored more than 16 points this season came against FCS Lamar, 1-8 UTEP, 1-8 Florida International, and 0-9 Southern Miss. The three FBS wins for Louisiana Tech have come against three of the worst teams in the nation however, teams that are 2-25 combined. This situation sets up well for Rice to post a dominant win in a needed game following the first conference loss. Rice allowed 609 yards in this matchup last season but cutting that number in half seems like a realistic possibility this time around as the Louisiana Tech offense has been very limited. The Bulldogs play respectable defense but this is a big jump in class in competition and Louisiana Tech has allowed 28 or more points four times this season. In games against the same teams Rice has been far more impressive statistically against North Texas, UTEP, and Kansas, allowing 335 fewer yards in the three games combined. The Rice defense is underrated and this is a game the Owls need to play well in to stay in the Conference USA race and bowl picture. Rice is 10-3 ATS the last 13 games as a home favorite and while Louisiana Tech has been on a solid ATS run on the road they should be exposed after an extremely weak recent schedule.

Mississippi has won three in a row but this could be a tricky spot on the schedule with a huge game with Missouri on deck. Troy has a terrible defense but the offense can put up a big number with quick scores in the passing game and this should be a much bigger game for the underdog. Troy has some familiarity with a Hugh Freeze coached team and his schemes from his time at Arkansas State and the Trojans have risen up to play well in opportunities against major conference teams in recent years, going 4-2 ATS the last three years vs. the SEC, ACC or Big XII. Ole Miss has four home losses in the almost two seasons so far under Freeze and a late season non-conference game can provide questionable motivation for a heavy favorite. After getting blown out against Mississippi State earlier this season, Troy will be motivated to play more respectably this week and the Trojans have scored 30+ points in all but one game this season. Troy was coming off a key early season Sun Belt game with last year’s champion Arkansas State and they played poorly in the follow-up game while it was a do-or-die game for Mississippi State after a 0-2 FBS start. Troy nearly beat a bowl eligible Duke team the next week and every Sun Belt game has been very competitive. Mississippi has lost ATS in three of the last four games as a favorite, only covering against lowly Idaho and the offensive statistics for these teams are almost identical. While Troy struggles defensively, Mississippi has allowed 380 yards per game this season and surrenders over 63 percent passing to opponents, leaving a lot of opportunities for excellent senior quarterback Corey Robinson. Even if Troy falls behind early they will be a great backdoor cover candidate, something Mississippi allowed to happen last week and will be vulnerable to knowing they don’t want to wear out players or give away plays with Missouri on deck.

No one expected Auburn to be a contender in the SEC West but the Tigers sit as the last team that could pass Alabama. This will be a very difficult test but Auburn is one of the top rushing teams in the nation averaging 6.0 yards per rush. The Auburn defense has not had great numbers against the top competition on the schedule but Georgia has not played well on the road this season, going 1-2 with the lone win coming in overtime at Tennessee, a place where Auburn won handily last weekend. Georgia has a slightly better statistical profile on defense while the offensive numbers are similar but last week’s FCS win over Appalachian State pads the numbers a bit and Auburn has played three non-conference games of decent quality. Much more is at stake for the Tigers who are still not getting significant line respect and with a 38-0 loss at home against Georgia last season, motivation should not be a problem for the home team. Auburn is off next week so looking ahead to the Iron Bowl is a non-factor and this is a tough scheduling spot for Georgia as a third road game in the last four games. A great rushing team at home is always promising with such a low number and Auburn is gaining 6.5 yards per rush. There is a capable passing game for the Tigers that simply have not had to be used in several games and Auburn has scored at least 30 points in every game since the narrow loss to LSU. Auburn has covered the spread by double-digits in four straight home games while Georgia has not covered in a game since early September, proving to be one of the most overrated and overvalued teams in the country. Georgia is just 9-14 ATS the last 23 road games and just 4-10-1 ATS as an underdog since 2008. Auburn is on a 36-5 S/U run as a home favorite going back to 2007, covering in five of the last seven and just needing a small margin to cover at home this week despite an impressive 9-1 record through a high quality schedule.

Temple is 1-8. The Owls, to their credit, have played hard losing two tough road games in a row falling to SMU 59-49 and to Rutgers 23-20 the past two weeks as double-digit 'dogs.

I don't see the Owls having anything left in the tank. Central Florida is vastly superior on both sides of the ball and is in a dogfight with three other teams for first place in the American Athletic College conference. So the Knights won't be taking Temple lightly.

Central Florida ranks 12th in the country in fewest points allowed per game at 18.6. The Knights have a very good quarterback in Blake Bortles, who is completing 68 percent of his passes with a 15-to-5 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

Bortles should fare well against the Owls, who rank 121st in pass defense. Temple has surrendered at least 300 yards through the air in seven of its nine games.

Temple is 2-5 ATS in its last seven home games and starts a true freshman at quarterback, P.J. Walker, who isn't nearly as accurate as Bortles.

I believe this is a kill spot for Central Florida and the Knights are playable now that the line has gone below 17.

Houston just missed pulling a huge upset at Central Florida last week falling, 19-14, to the Knights in what was a battle for first place in the American Athletic Conference.

The Cougars are down and now have to travel to Louisville to face the 19th-ranked Cardinals.

Louisville starts fast having outscored its opponents, 75-6, in the first quarter. I see the Cardinals jumping out fast on the demoralized Cougars and coasting to an easy win.

Teddy Bridgewater is the consensus No. 1 overall draft pick right now. He's completed 71.4 percent of his throws for 2,845 yards and has a 24-to-3 touchdown-to-interception ratio.

The Cardinals not only have the best quarterback in the country, but also the No. 1 scoring defense holding foes to 10.6 points a game.

San Diego State's balanced offense should score at will against Hawaii, which is giving up 37.3 points per game. The Rainbow Warriors rank 109th in total defense allowing 470.9 yards per game.

The Aztecs are averaging 35 points in their last five games. However, San Diego State also has yielded an average of 31.8 points in its last five games.

The over has cashed in nine of Hawaii's last 11 home games.

Auburn can't help but notice that its next game is against Alabama. But there isn't going to be an SEC West showdown because I don't see the Tigers getting past Georgia.

The Bulldogs are extremely dangerous to the Tigers because of their strong run defense and star running back Todd Gurley healthy again.

I'll take Aaron Murray and Todd Gurley over Auburn's skill position players. Georgia has beaten the Tigers during the past two meetings by a combined 76 points.

Auburn has played an easier SEC schedule than Georgia. The only really tough SEC foe the Tigers have met is LSU and they lost to them, 35-21. Georgia defeated LSU, 44-41.

Not only is Georgia's run defense, but the Bulldogs haven't surrendered a touchdown pass in their last three games. Georgia is healthy and underrated in this spot.

Hawaii is back home, but that's not necessarily as good as you might think. It means the Rainbow Warriors have traveled nearly 10,000 miles during the last 10 days. They also are 4-10 ATS during their past 14 home contests.

Hawaii played at Utah State two weeks ago and were hammered, 47-10. Utah State accomplished that 37-point victory minus injured star quarterback Chuckie Keeton.

The Rainbow Warriors then traveled to the East Coast to meet Navy in their longest road trip ever. Hawaii lost 42-28.

It's hard to see the demoralized and obviously fatigued Rainbow Warriors having much left in the tank for this matchup. Hawaii is 0-9 this season and 3-18 under Norm Chow, who could be on his way out after this season.

The Aztecs have covered nine of their last 12 Mountain West Conference matchups. They need this victory to become bowl eligible. San Diego State may not get a bowl bid if it doesn't win this game. The Aztecs finish against Boise State and on the road against much-improved UNLV.

San Diego State has faced a number of outstanding quarterbacks - Oregon State's Sean Mannion, Nevada's Cody Fajardo, Fresno State's Derek Carr and San Jose State's David Fales. The Aztecs' only non-cover against these foes came against Fresno State went they lost in overtime by seven as 6 1/2-point underdogs.

4 Unit Play. #11/#314 Take Marshall Thundering Herd -13 over Tulsa Golden Hurricanes (Thursday 7:30 pm Fox Sports 1) The Golden Hurricanes are in a complete free fall having lost 6 of their last 7 games. They just have a terrible offense that turns over the football at will and thus gives their defense no chance for success. The Thundering Herd have won 4 of their last 5 games with 3 of those victories being blowouts against bad teams. That is certainly what they will see tonight, a bad team. Tulsa is just 1-8 ATS on the season. This is only the third time in 9 years that Tulsa is an underdog at home, but it is completely warranted as they have given up on the season. Marshall pounds Tulsa and we collect in the process as well.

5 Unit Play. #16/#316 Take UCLA Bruins -2.5 over Washington Huskies (Friday 9 pm ESPN 2) Both of these teams are strong in 2013 after major rebuilding projects. However, I trust UCLA much more than I do Washington. The Huskies have rebounded to win two straight games against terrible teams (California and Colorado) after suffering a three-game losing streak. Both teams have two losses against Stanford and Oregon, but I just feel UCLA has a much stronger defense, and playing in Pasadena is a big edge for Big Blue. UCLA has won 7 straight home games against Washington (5-2 ATS in those games). This is a big game for Coach Jim Mora as he went to Washington and he wants to make a statement in this game. UCLA is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games as a favorite. UCLA keeps pace in the PAC-12 South with a convincing win on Friday night.

4 Unit Play. #64/#366 Take Auburn Tigers -3.5 over Georgia Bulldogs (Saturday 3:30 pm CBS) Georgia would have been a big favorite in this game at the start of the season. However, injuries and poor defensive play have caught up with them, and thus the Tigers come in as a small favorite. The home team in this game has covered 5 of the last 6 matchups. Georgia is getting some players back from injury, but they are still out major weapons at the wide receiver position, and that will be too much for them to overcome in a hostile environment. Auburn is just having one of those years, and I believe they will enter the Iron Bowl with just 1 loss. Georgia plays in the overrated SEC East, and Auburn plays in the much tougher SEC West. Georgia is 0-6 ATS (1 push) in their last 7 games overall. Auburn is 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games overall.

4 Unit Play. #44/#362 Take UNDER 68.5 in Wyoming Cowboys @ Boise State Broncos (Saturday 10:15 pm ESPN 2) Wyoming is in a major free fall and thus enters this game as a hefty underdog. We cannot use them as a selection anymore as they have bitten us in recent weeks. However, the under sets up for a strong play in this game. Boise State is still using a backup quarterback, and thus their offense is not as effective as when QB Joe Southwick was behind center. Wyoming fired their defensive coordinator two weeks ago, and this is the game I expect to see a turnaround ala Texas. Wyoming has gone under the posted total in 8 of their last 10 games played during November.

4 Unit Play. #20/#378 Take Illinois Fighting Illini +33 over Ohio State Buckeyes (Saturday 12 pm ESPN) We will bite on this huge road number as we feel Illinois will be able to move the football a little on offense. Ohio State has been rolling of late. However, they still have question marks on defense, and Illinois has a decent quarterback that should be able to put up some points. Ohio State wins, but it comes closer than what the oddsmakers believe.

6 Unit Play. #99/#401 Take San Diego State Aztecs -4.5 over Hawaii Warriors (10:30 pm CBS Sports Network) Top College Play of the Weekend. The Warriors are 0-9, and the Norm Chow era is truly on life support. They have kept some games close this year. However, their last two games have not been pretty. The Aztecs have stayed under the radar, but they are 4-1 in the MWC, and they have lost just one game since Sept. 22. That loss came against undefeated Fresno State, and that was a game that could have easily won as they missed a field goal as time expired in the fourth quarter. Playing in Hawaii is not what it once was as teams are now treating it as a business trip and not a party. Hawaii's home-field advantage has all but dissipated of late, and the Warriors are flying back from a game at Navy (Annapolis, MD) last Saturday. Talk about a long flight home! San Diego State is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games played during November. Hawaii is 4-10 ATS in their last 14 home games. Hawaii has been getting blown out by teams in the first half, and that again will be true again on Saturday afternoon (night on the mainland).

              3-Unit Play. Take #322 Vanderbilt (-12.5) over Kentucky (12:20 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16)

I am going with the Commodores in this one. They are off a big win over Florida last week. This is a very strong Vandy team. They were off to a slow start early in the season. But now they are hitting on all cylinders. Kentucky is in a rebuilding season. They are still the worst team in the conference by far and they don't have the horses to compete with Vanderbilt. This one should be another blowout.

              4-Unit Play. Take #366 Auburn (-3.5) over Georgia (7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16)

I like Auburn to stay strong in this one. This team is on a roll. And Georgia has been one of the most overrated teams in the country this year. This team started the season in the Top 5. Now they are out of the rankings and just 1-7-1 ATS. They are still being overvalued by the betting markets. Auburn can do it on ground and in the air. And they should take advantage of a Georgia defense that has really struggled this season. Georgia has not played many road games this year. And they have not looked good when they have. Auburn is clearly the better team here and I think they will jump all over the Bulldogs for a statement victory.

3-Unit Play. Take #396 Arkansas State (-7.5) over Texas State (7:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16)

This is an important game for Arkansas State. They are just one game back in the standings to UL-Lafayette. They can't afford to letdown here and I think they will win going away. Texas State's record is fool's gold. This team has only beaten the worst teams in the conference and some of the worst in all of college football. Arkansas State dominated Louisiana-Monroe last week in a 42-14 win and I think they are peaking down the stretch.

              2-Unit Play. Take #362 Boise State (-22.5) over Wyoming (10 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16)

Wyoming got buried last week against Fresno State. They took a 10-0 lead and then gave up 48 straight points in an embarrassing effort. This Wyoming team played well early in the season. But now they are one of the biggest busts in a non-BCS conference. Boise State will score at will in this game and this spread is over three touchdowns because it will be an absolute blowout. Boise State is finishing the year with its backup quarterback. But Chris Peterson has a great system. His team is going to keep dominating the Mountain West and will earn a big blowout victory here.
