7 Unit Play. Take #718 Over 200 ½ Charlotte at Phoenix (9:05 p.m., Friday, November 14)
So Thursday night when I was making my numbers I originally had this total around 203-204 so when the books open 203 last night I wasn't shocked. Then this morning I see this total dropping and I quickly knew I was going to make this my top play tonight. The Phoenix Suns offense has been clicking on all cylinders and big reasons why are the play of Gerald Green and Isaiah Thomas. Phoenix is deep team and they have scorers on the bench that can come in and score quickly. The Suns are averaging 104.8ppg but the sad part about the Suns is that their defense is also giving up 103.4ppg. Charlotte has dropped 2 out of 3 games and their defense has been horrible in those 3 games giving up an average of 109.3ppg and tonight if the Hornets can't slow down the Suns offense this game will have no trouble going over. Charlotte is 5-1 O/U in their last 6 road games and the Hornets are also 23-7 O/U following a SU loss. Phoenix is 5-1 O/U in their last 6 games and their last 10 meetings in Phoenix between these two teams 7 of them have gone over the total.
Game: Jacksonville St. Gamecocks @ Marshall Thundering Herd
Time: Friday 11/14 7:00 PM Eastern
Pick: Marshall -4 (-110) at Bookmaker
Last season Marshall finished with an 11-22 record overall and a 4-12 mark in Conference USA play. They went out on a limb and brought in Dan D'Antoni, the brother of Mike D'Antoni to hopefully catch lightning in a bottle and turn the program around. The good news is redshirt sophomore forward Ryan Taylor returns as both the team's leading scorer from last season at 12.8 points per game and the leading rebounder with 7.2 rebounds per game. The Thundering Herd was actually pretty decent at home a year ago, but a 2-12 road mark did them in. Jacksonville State won just 10 games a season ago, and just four in Ohio Valley play. Coach James Green hasn't finished with an above .500 record in OVC play in any of his first six years, and the roster does not show any indication that will change. The Gamecocks struggle offensively and averaged just 65 ppg last season, and the road for a poor shooting team is a death sentence. Marshall is respectable at home and has a very winnable game here with a short number to get over the top. Take Marshall.

Bruce Pearl has completely changed the culture of basketball on The Plains in only a few short months. He started by getting top JUCO and D1 transfers, then went out and signed a top draft class as well! He’s bringing the team to classrooms to get the students excited, and the alumni are finally interested in basketball.
I expected this number to be closer to 14.5 when it came out. I think there’s a lot of “unknown” that people are nervous about when it comes to this Auburn squad. Their closed door scrimmage against Tulane didn’t go well but that’s to be expected when there are so many new faces on the roster (Plus Tulane is going to be greatly improved this year). The exhibition game was of course against a weak D2 opponent but it gave this players another opportunity to gel. Decimeon Bowers is a 6’7 260lb beast that Milwaukee just doesn’t have a physical answer for. Add in the athletic scoring ability of Niagara transfer Antoine Mason and returning star KT Harrell, and Auburn has quite a few weapons at it’s disposal that it was greatly lacking last year. Even the bench has been bolstered with the addition of KC Ross Miller from NM St.
Milwaukee on the other hand lost their SG to graduation (who shot almost 35% on 195 3′s) and their Center. Their other deep threat Austin Arians returns, we think his effectiveness will be hampered by the loss of Jordan Aaron. The Panther bench was pretty ineffective last year so it remains to be seen how much they improved and how impactful a couple of the new starters will be.
Auburns arena will be hoping (and if you haven’t seen the new one, it’s GORGEOUS). Pearl has this team and it’s fans believing that a special season will come sooner rather than later. If the Tigers can cleanup the mistakes they made in their closed door game against Tulane, they should be able to run the floor effectively with their new 1-2 combo of Mason and Harrell, which in turn will free up Bowers to take over the paint.
