NHL (51) COLORADO AVALANCHE VS (52) VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS

      Take: (52) VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS

Reason: Despite losing both their first and second goalies, the Vegas Golden Knights continue to win. The team had to call up goalie Oscar Dansk from their Chicago affiliate to start the last game with both Marc-Andre Fluery and Malcolm Subban both on IR. The Knights are 7-1-0 to start the season, having benefited from a nice home schedule to start the season where six of their first eight games have been at the T-Mobile arena. Colorado is off to a 5-4 start (2-3 away). The Avs have averaged just 2.20 goals per game thus far. Both clubs are 4-4 O/U on the season with Vegas 4-2 O/U at home. Vegas taking full advantage of their early home ice dominance. Colorado has struggle a bit on the road and looks to be the latest victim of the Knights. Play Vegas.

            Playoff Series:
            World Series; Series Tied 1-1

            Preview: Dodgers at Astros

            Gracenote
            Oct 26, 2017

The Houston Astros emerged victorious in an epic Game 2 and now look to take a 2-1 lead when they host the Los Angeles Dodgers for Game 3 of the World Series on Friday. The teams combined for a World Series-record eight home runs on Wednesday, with George Springer's two-run blast in the 11th inning being the biggest in the Astros' come-from-behind 7-6 road win.

Houston carries the momentum home after the comeback triumph and has made the decision to close the roof on Minute Maid Park for Friday's game, assuring that crowd noise will play a role in the festivities. "It's quite an environment when we play under the roof," Astros manager A.J. Hinch said during his press conference on Thursday. "It was one of the loudest stadiums the last series; I expect it to be the same. We're coming off one of the most epic baseball games in any of our careers, so that feels good. It will feel good right up to first pitch, and then it will be a new game." The 4-hour, 19-minute Game 2 classic featured six homers in the final three innings as Los Angeles saw a chance for a 2-0 series advantage evaporate. "I think all year long we've done a nice job of recovering, turning the page, whether it's a big win or tough loss," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters. "It's a tough loss - just refocusing on the day at hand."

            TV:
            8:09 p.m. ET, FOX

PITCHING MATCHUP: Dodgers RH Yu Darvish (2-0, 1.59 ERA) vs. Astros RH Lance McCullers Jr. (0-0, 2.08)

Darvish has fanned 14 batters in 11 1/3 innings this postseason to improve to 2-2 with a 3.52 ERA in four career playoff starts. The 31-year-old from Japan fared well at Minute Maid Park during his tenure with Texas, going 4-1 with a 2.16 ERA and 0.74 WHIP in six career outings. "I feel like it doesn't really matter," Darvish said of his past success through his translator at his press conference on Thursday. "It's better to know that I've pitched here before. But (Friday's) game, it could be totally different from my previous outings here."

McCullers, who has posted a 2.33 ERA in four playoff appearances (two starts), is making his second start this postseason and has recorded 13 strikeouts in as many innings. The 24-year-old took a shutout into the seventh frame of Game 4 of the American League Championship Series before allowing a homer by New York Yankees rookie slugger Aaron Judge but has been mesmerizing hitters with a steady diet of curveballs. "I don't view it as an off-speed pitch," McCullers said at his press conference on Thursday. "I just view it as another one of my weapons that I can use to get people out."

            WALK-OFFS

            1. The Astros are 6-0 at home this postseason.

            2. Springer went 3-for-5 in Game 2 after going 3-for-30 with 11 strikeouts over his previous eight contests.

            3. Los Angeles 3B Justin Turner is just 1-for-9 through the first two games, with the hit being a two-run homer that won the series opener.

            PREDICTION: Astros 8, Dodgers 6

                      Gracenote
                      Oct 24, 2017

Florida State entered the season ranked third in the country while Boston College was picked to finish near the bottom of the ACC. Incredibly, the Seminoles and the host Eagles are tied in the Atlantic Division standings entering their Friday night tilt in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

Boston College has surprised the league with back-to-back road wins over Louisville and Virginia, slamming the Cavaliers 41-10 behind the best game of the season for redshirt freshman quarterback Anthony Brown. "We have scored 40 points in the back-to-back games, first time they have ever done that in the history of Boston College," coach Steve Addazio told reporters this week. "Either Big East or ACC and first time in ACC since we have been in we have had two back-to-back over five hundred yards of offense. I think that helps you and it builds confidence." The Seminoles gave up nearly 500 yards (449) in a 31-28 loss to Louisville last week. They've already matched the highest single-season loss total under coach Jimbo Fisher, who is in his eighth year at the helm.

TV: 8 p.m. ET, ESPN. LINE: Florida State -3

ABOUT FLORIDA STATE (2-4, 2-3 ACC): The Seminoles took another big hit last week with the loss of junior running back Jacques Patrick (knee), likely for the rest of the season. Patrick's 434 rushing yards trailed only freshman Cam Akers (454), who will assume a greater role along with sophomore Amir Rasul (26 yards on seven carries). "All he says is, 'Yes sir, no sir,' and goes 100 miles an hour," Fisher told reporters of Rasul. "He’s a really good player."

ABOUT BOSTON COLLEGE (4-4, 2-3): Brown had completed just 46.9 percent of his passes over his previous four games before hitting on 19-of-24 for a season-high three touchdowns against Virginia. That took a little pressure off fellow freshman AJ Dillon, who ran 39 times for 272 yards in the previous week at Louisville and gained 89 more versus the Cavaliers to raise his season total to 694, third in the ACC. Kobay White, also a freshman, leads the Eagles in receptions (24) and receiving yards (313) after hauling in a 76-yard score last week.

                      EXTRA POINTS

                      1. Seminoles QB James Blackman has five TD passes and six interceptions in a three-game stretch.

                      2. Eagles TE Tommy Sweeney has eight catches for 112 yards and two scores over the last two contests.

                      3. Florida State is 7-0 against Boston College under Fisher, including a 45-7 rout at home last season.

PREDICTION: Florida State 31, Boston College 30

                          Oct 24, 2017

Memphis looks to avoid a letdown after an emotional comeback victory when they host dangerous Tulane for an American Athletic Conference matchup on Friday night. The Tigers trailed by 17 points late in the third quarter at Houston on Oct. 19 before rallying for a 42-38 triumph to seize first place in the AAC West as senior quarterback Riley Ferguson threw for a school-record 471 yards.

“There’s a tremendous sense of urgency to improve, a tremendous sense of urgency to continue to put your best foot forward,” Memphis coach Mike Norvell told the Commercial Appeal, “because this football team, all we’ve accomplished is put ourselves in a position that every game truly matters.” The Tigers have won three straight contests while totaling 142 points, but have given up 96 in the same span as they prepare to take on Tulane’s triple-option offense that has produced at least 190 yards rushing in all seven games this year. The Green Wave have dropped two straight games, but gave No. 14 South Florida a scare in a 34-28 loss last weekend and boast one of the best running backs in the league in senior Dontrell Hilliard. “We don’t have moral victories, but it didn’t look good for us at the beginning of the second half,” Tulane coach Willie Fritz told reporters Saturday. “We kept fighting throughout the second half and made it a very competitive ballgame.”

TV: 8 p.m. ET, CBS Sports Network. LINE: Memphis -10.5

ABOUT TULANE (3-4, 1-2 AAC): Hilliard is averaging just over 100 yards a game - third best in the league - and has scored 11 touchdowns overall with nine of them coming on the ground. Junior quarterback Jonathan Banks, who is coming off a season-high 221 yards passing against South Florida, runs the triple-option attack and has called his own number 70 times for 286 rushing yards to go along with three touchdowns. Junior wide receiver Terren Encalade is the top threat through the air for the Green Wave with 17 receptions for 311 yards and three touchdowns.

ABOUT MEMPHIS (6-1, 3-1): Ferguson has completed 59.9 percent of his throws for 2,285 yards and 20 touchdowns to go along with six interceptions while senior Anthony Miller has hauled in 55 passes for 784 yards and nine scores. Patrick Taylor Jr. (346 rushing yards, seven TDs) will likely get the lion’s share of carries with fellow sophomore Darrell Henderson (541, three) questionable with an undisclosed injury. Freshman corner TJ Carter, who had 14 tackles and his fourth interception against Houston, was named AAC defensive player of the week Monday.

                          EXTRA POINTS

                          1. The Tigers, who are 6-1 or better for only the second time in the last 50 years, have won 10 consecutive meetings and lead the all-time series with Tulane 21-11-1.

                          2. Tulane CB Parry Nickerson, who has started 40 straight games, was named one of 13 semifinalists for the Jim Thorpe Award - given to the nation’s top defensive back.

                          3. Miller needs 70 receiving yards to pass Duke Calhoun (2,981) for first on the school’s all-time list and three receptions to reach 200 in his career.

                          PREDICTION: Memphis 45, Tulane 21

Trey Quinn has seemingly come out of nowhere to do the unprecedented for SMU, which hosts Tulsa on Friday in an American Athletic Conference. After never producing more than seven catches in a game, the junior wide receiver has 15 or more in three straight for the Mustangs, who will try to snap a three-game losing streak against the Golden Hurricane.

Quinn, a transfer from LSU and Louisiana's all-time high school receiver, is the first player this century with three straight games of 15 or more receptions, including back-to-back games of 17 catches. His final reception against Cincinnati went for 28 yards on 4th-and-26, paving the way for the Mustangs to earn a 31-28 victory in overtime. "You don't have too many of those calls in your pocket," coach Kevin Morris told the media of the 4th-and-long call. "When you have playmakers like we have, you are able to keep a play alive." D'Angelo Brewer, Shamari Brooks and Corey Taylor II lead a potent rushing attack for the Golden Hurricane and Brewer recently became the fourth player in school history to surpass 3,000 career rushing yards.

ABOUT TULSA (2-6, 1-3 AAC): After sticking with Chad President at quarterback for the first five games, coach Philip Montgomery has turned the reins of the offense over to Luke Skipper. The redshirt freshman isn't the runner that President has been, but his average yards per pass attempt is more than four yards better than his predecessor. Justin Hobbs and Keenen Johnson are the top receiving threats for the Golden Hurricanes with 73 receptions between them.

ABOUT SMU (5-2, 2-1): While not as prolific as Quinn, junior Courtland Sutton is enjoying a fine season with 37 receptions and a team-leading nine touchdowns. Sutton ranks third in school history behind Emmanuel Sanders and Aldrick Robinson with 28 career touchdown receptions and fourth in career 100-yard receiving games. Xavier Jones, Ke'Mon Freeman and Braeden West lead a rushing attack that has produced 1,282 yards and 17 touchdowns for the Mustangs, who are unbeaten in four games at home this season.

                              EXTRA POINTS

                              1. Tulsa has averaged 40.3 points in winning the last three meetings with SMU, yet still trail 13-10 in the series.

                              2. Led by 6.5 sacks from senior DE Justin Lawler, the Mustangs are tied for fifth in the country with 3.3 per game.

                              3. Quinn, the American Offensive Player of the Week, leads the nation with 71 receptions and is on pace to surpass the school record for catches in a season, which is 112 by Jeremy Johnson in 2013.

                              PREDICTION: SMU 47, Tulsa 37
