    Preview: Predators at Blackhawks

    Gracenote
    Oct 27, 2017

Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville rarely has been shy about shuffling the deck when the results haven't gone his way. As a result, the Blackhawks will feature new defensive pairings on Friday, when they host the Nashville Predators.

Former Norris Trophy winner Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook will be split up, with the former being paired with rookie Jan Rutta while the latter will play alongside Gustav Forsling. "We want to see how it looks," Quenneville told the Chicago Tribune. "We've seen this look for a while. Maybe the pairs will give us more ... balance or predictability. We need to improve there as well." The Blackhawks have lost three of four since posting a 2-1 overtime win over Nashville on Oct. 14, while the Predators have dropped back-to-back contests and mustered just five goals in their last three games. Filip Forsberg scored his team-leading seventh goal in Nashville's 3-2 shootout loss to Calgary on Tuesday and also tallied in the first encounter with Chicago.

TV: 8:30 p.m. ET, NHL Network, TVA, FSN Tennessee (Nashville), NBCSN Chicago

ABOUT THE PREDATORS (4-3-2): Defenseman P.K. Subban snapped his three-game point drought Tuesday by setting up a goal for the team-leading seventh time this season. The 28-year-old Subban also had an assist against Chicago two weeks ago and registered three points (one goal, two assists) in three meetings with the Blackhawks in 2016-17. Ryan Johansen has notched an assist in back-to-back contests and has six on the season but still is looking for his first goal since signing an eight-year, $64 million contract in July.

ABOUT THE BLACKHAWKS (5-3-2): Brandon Saad, who scored in overtime against Nashville, leads the club with six goals, while his nine points are second only to Patrick Kane. A former Hart Trophy winner, Kane extended his goal-scoring streak to three games and point run to six (three goals, three assists) in a 4-2 setback against expansion Vegas on Tuesday. The 28-year-old Kane has excelled at home, where he has posted nine (three goals, six assists) of his 12 points.

    OVERTIME

    1. Nashville scored a pair of power-play goals in its last game and has converted with the man advantage at least once in six of its nine contests this season.

    2. Blackhawks G Corey Crawford owns a 16-9-1 record and 2.45 goals-against average in 26 career contests versus the Predators.

    3. The Predators have been flat away from Music City, losing four of their five games (1-3-1).

    PREDICTION: Blackhawks 4, Predators 2

        Preview: Stars at Flames

        Gracenote
        Oct 27, 2017

The Calgary Flames hope for improvement from their special teams when they begin a season-high seven-game homestand against the Dallas Stars on Friday. The Flames are just 3-for-27 with the man advantage over their last seven games and have allowed six power-play tallies - two in Wednesday’s 5-2 loss to red-hot St. Louis - in the last four contests to slip back to .500.

“When you’re playing back-to-back (games), your penalty kill has to be better,” Calgary coach Glen Gulutzan told reporters after his team lost for the third time in four games. “Our penalty kill quite frankly doesn’t look anything near what it should, and we’ve got to clean that area up because (on Wednesday) it put us in a hole, and we couldn’t get out of it.” Mike Smith, who sat out for the first time in a Flames uniform on Wednesday, is expected back in net against the team with which he made his NHL debut. The Stars have allowed 10 goals while losing their last two contests after coughing up a lead in the third period of a 5-4 defeat at Edmonton on Thursday. Captain Jamie Benn scored twice to take over the team lead of seven goals for Dallas, which is 19-for-19 on the penalty kill over its last six contests.

TV: 9 p.m. ET, FSN Southwest (Dallas), Sportsnet 360 (Calgary)

ABOUT THE STARS (5-5-0): Big-ticket free-agent signing Alexander Radulov finally paid some big dividends, producing a goal and two assists on Thursday to push his season total to seven points. Benn leads the team with 13 points while Tyler Seguin (11) and defenseman John Klingberg (10) each notched an assist against the Oilers to give Dallas three players in double figures. The Stars will need more from Martin Hanzal (one goal, minus-9 rating) and the versatile Jason Spezza, who notched his fourth assist versus Edmonton but has yet to score a goal.

ABOUT THE FLAMES (5-5-0): Mikael Backlund scored twice in Wednesday’s loss to double his goal total for the season and move within one of Sean Monahan for the team lead, while Matthew Tkachuk has recorded a tally and two assists in his last two contests. Johnny Gaudreau has scored just twice this season and is fifth on the team in shots (24) but leads with 10 assists and 12 points. Smith is off to a solid start (5-4-0, 2.49 goals-against average, .928 save percentage) after stopping 28 shots in the 3-2 shootout victory over Nashville on Tuesday.

        OVERTIME

        1. Calgary entered Thursday 28th in the league in scoring at 2.4 goals per game while allowing an average of three tallies.

        2. Dallas is 1-4-0 on the road, allowing 22 goals in the process, but is 6-for-15 on the power play away from home.

        3. The Flames have won five of their last seven meetings with the Stars, including the last two of 2016-17.

        PREDICTION: Flames 5, Stars 3

I think the Vegas team has come back down to earth remember this is a expansion team and their start has shocked me but at 7-1 and facing a better Colorado team they are more then due for a letdown we will take any plus money we can get and invest a small 9 unit investment on Colorado tonight. (Be sure you take a look at my NBA investors pass every play all year for just 399.95 sale lasts until November 1st)

St. Louis vs. Carolina Under 5.5

We should see a slower paced game here with these two teams, which makes this Under worth a move.

Carolina comes in off a back to back, which will certainly cause some fatigue for them, especially on the offensive end. The Canes grabbed a win in Toronto, but things were not as easy on them as the 6-3 score indicates. That Toronto team runs you around and really forces you to play physical. That will really cause the Canes to hang back some here, as maintaing energy is a must for them.

St. Louis is also a slower paced team. They are averaging just 2.7 goals per game on the road this season. They look to keep possession and really slow things down, which plays into our advantage here.

Some trends to note. Under is 17-8-8 in Hurricanes last 33 Friday games. Under is 19-4-4 in Blues last 27 games playing on 1 days rest.

Look for a lower scoring game here.

                    Back Under.

                    Good Luck, Razor Ray.

The New York Knicks are off to a terrible start, going 0-3 both SU and ATS. Here they're giving points to Brooklyn Nets who are 3-2 SU and 4-1 ATS on the season, and this looks like an easy play on Brooklyn.

The Nets will be filled with confidence coming off a 112-107 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday. There's a small risk for a let down game after such a tremendous performance, but I think the fact that they face their cross-town rival will offset that risk.

As a bonus we can note that the Nets lead the league in scoring at 121.2 points per game while the Knicks are dead last with 93.3 ppg.

My free pick is on Brooklyn Nets.

Mike is coming off a 2-0 SWEEP on the hardwood Thursday to make it an 11-4 NBA RUN L7 DAYS and push the profits to +$29,000 NBA since January 24, 2017. His NBA GAME OF THE MONTH on Boston Celtics +4.5 WON OUTRIGHT and he's got TWO PREMIUM NBA PLAYS locked and loaded for Friday night.

This game features the 3-1 Wizards and the 3-2 Warriors. Both teams have been horrible ATS wise as they are a combined 2-7 ATS. I think the Warriors get up for this game as the Wizards were a team that beat them last year look for them to blow them out rather easy tonight and get us a 15* winner.

These two split the first two games in LA with the Dodgers taking the opener and then Houston won that epic extra innings game, where they scored a run in both the 8th and 9th against that dominant Dodgers bullpen to force extra innings. My money is on LA to bounce back and take Game 3 and it comes down to the starting pitching matchup. The Dodgers give the rock to You Darvish, who has stepped up on the big stage with two outstanding postseason starts. Both of which came on the road. He allowed just 1 run on 2 hits at Arizona and 1 run on 6 hits over 6 1/3 at Chicago in the NLCS. Houston will send out Lance McCullers, who pitched well in his only start against the Yankees, but was touched up for 5 runs in 4 1/3 at Boston. LA should have the easier time pushing runs across early and it's really all about who can get to their bullpen first with a lead. Give me the Dodgers +120!

The Golden State Warriors have opened the season getting too much respect from oddmskaers due to winning the championship last year. They have not been able to live up to expectations. They have already lost two games outright and have gone 1-4 ATS in the process. And they've been favored by 8.5 or more points in every game. Now they are laying 11 points to the Washington Wizards, who are one of the best teams in the East. Washington is 3-1 this season with all four games decided by 5 points or less. This one will be closer than expected too. Give me the Wizards.

The Key: No Kawhi Leonard, no problem. The San Antonio Spurs are one of two unbeaten teams left in the NBA despite playing without Leonard up to this point. They have gone 4-0 SU & 3-0-1 ATS while winning all 4 games by 8 points or more. Don't expect the Orlando Magic to offer much resistance tonight either. The Spurs have gone 11-1 in their last 11 meetings with the Magic with 9 of those 11 wins coming by 7 points or more. I think we see more of the same one-sided dominance in this series tonight. Take San Antonio.
