    JIMMY BOYD

    Free Pick on Spurs -3.5

I like the value here with San Antonio laying a short number at home against the Clippers. This is simply too good a price to pass up on the Spurs at home, even with Leonard and Parker still sidelined.
San Antonio has got back on track here of late, winning 108-101 against the Hornets and 112-95 over the Suns in their last two games. Both at home, where they are now 4-1 on the season.
LA on the other hand has lost 4 of 5 after that strong start. The most concerning thing is all 5 of those games came at home and the only win was against a horrible Mavs team. It also sounds like they could be without starter Danilo Gallinari, which would be a big loss.
Even with him, I'll take my chances with San Antonio. Note that the Spurs are 17-7 ATS in their last 24 when coming off a win by 15 or more and 4-1 ATS at home.
We also have a strong system in play that supports backing the Spurs in this spot. Favorites of 3.5 to 9.5 points that are off 2 or more wins in a row at home are 54-24 (69%) ATS dating back to 1996 when the game involves 2 teams that have a winning percentage between 51% to 60%. Take San Antonio!

                    Preview: Bucks at Cavaliers

                    Gracenote
                    Nov 6, 2017

The Cleveland Cavaliers snapped a four-game losing streak by jumping on LeBron James' back on Friday, but they learned on Sunday that can't be an every-game occurrence. The Cavaliers will try to get their star some help and avoid another loss when they host the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday.

Cleveland went up against an Atlanta Hawks' squad that had dropped eight in a row on Sunday and fell 117-115 at home, prompting Dwyane Wade to point the finger at the starting five. "It's no secret we're starting games off awful," Wade told reporters after scoring 25 points off the bench. "Terrible. ... And the effort or the focus just wasn't there to start off, and you try to battle back, you waste a lot of energy trying to come back from 16-18 down, and it's tough nightly to do this. ... It's no secret in this locker room, but our first unit, we got to start off better." The Bucks are enduring their own slump and limp in Cleveland losers of three in a row. "We've got to get stops defensively," veteran guard Jason Terry told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel after a 105-96 loss at Detroit on Friday. "We're built on defense and right now we're not playing much of it."

TV: 7 p.m. ET, NBATV, FSN Wisconsin (Milwaukee), FSN Ohio (Cleveland)

ABOUT THE BUCKS (4-5): If there is an heir to James' throne as the best all-around player in the league, it could be Milwaukee small forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, who can play all five positions and is just beginning to reach superstar status. The 22-year-old is averaging 31 points on 58.3 percent shooting, 9.9 rebounds, five assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.7 steals. Antetokounmpo is going through a bit of a slump during the three-game slide, averaging 23.7 points on 47.4 percent shooting, but went for 34 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in a 116-97 home loss to the Cavaliers on Oct. 20.

ABOUT THE CAVALIERS (4-6): James followed up a 57-point outburst on Friday with 26 points on 10-of-17 shooting and 13 assists on Sunday, but agreed that Cleveland lacked energy. "The effort was pretty bad, and you turn the corner, but you can't fix it all in one game," James told reporters. "This has been going on for a while. We just have to figure it out." James was the only starter to score more than 10 points on Sunday as Kevin Love, Jae Crowder, Derrick Rose and J.R. Smith combined for 25 points on 9-of-29 shooting.

                    BUZZER BEATERS

                    1. Love (illness) was removed from Sunday's game and taken to the Cleveland Clinic, and he is day-to-day.

                    2. Bucks PG Malcolm Brogdon averaged 20.5 points on 17-of-29 shooting in the last two games.

                    3. Cleveland took the last four and seven of eight in the series.

                    PREDICTION: Bucks 110, Cavaliers 103

                        Preview: Pelicans at Pacers

                        Gracenote
                        Nov 6, 2017

The Indiana Pacers started their road trip off with a bang but limp back home after dropping the final two stops of the three-game trip at Philadelphia and New York. The New Orleans Pelicans, who visit the Pacers on Tuesday, are moving in the opposite direction with wins in back-to-back road contests.

The Pelicans did not reach 100 points in any of their last four games but managed to outlast a pair of teams at the bottom of their respective conferences in the Dallas Mavericks and Chicago Bulls. "No matter what, it's tough to get a win on the road," Pelicans forward Anthony Davis told reporters. "We wanted to make sure we just come out and play. ... We just trusted our defense and that it would translate to offense." The Pacers are questioning their defense after squandering a 19-point lead in a 108-101 loss at the New York Knicks on Sunday, during which they were outscored 36-17 in the fourth quarter. "You need to have these wins," power forward Thaddeus Young told the team's website. "You can say it's a long season, but these are the ones that come back and hurt."

                        TV:
7 p.m. ET, FSN New Orleans, FSN Indiana

ABOUT THE PELICANS (5-5): Davis and DeMarcus Cousins combined for 52 points and 27 rebounds in Saturday's 96-90 overtime win at Chicago, but both played more than 40 minutes, and the playing time is becoming a concern. "We're asking a lot of those guys, especially (Davis) and DeMarcus playing those kind of minutes," New Orleans coach Alvin Gentry told reporters. "... It's kind of a catch-22. Do you take them out? Or, do you try to win games and then try to find rest for them? We chose to leave them in and try to win the game." Davis logged over 40 minutes in each of the last four games and six of 10 while Cousins hit the mark three times already.

ABOUT THE PACERS (5-5): Indiana needs to figure out a way to keep Cousins and Davis off the glass after being outrebounded by the Knicks 52-41. Starting center Myles Turner recorded 21 points and 14 rebounds in the season opener but sat out the next seven games with a head injury and totaled 13 rebounds in two games since his return, including four in 24 minutes against New York. Domantas Sabonis posted double-digit rebounds in six straight games while starting in place of Turner and led the team with eight boards in 29 minutes off the bench on Sunday.

                        BUZZER BEATERS

                        1. Pelicans PG Jrue Holiday is 0-of-14 from 3-point range in the last four games.

                        2. Pacers rookie PF TJ Leaf (ankle) sat out Sunday and is day-to-day.

                        3. The teams split two meetings last season, with each protecting home court.

                        PREDICTION: Pacers 111, Pelicans 98

                            Preview: Mavericks at Wizards

                            Gracenote
                            Nov 6, 2017

The Washington Wizards bounced back from a high-profile loss with an impressive win despite being without their star player. The Wizards hope to have All-Star point guard John Wall back when they go for back-to-back wins while hosting the struggling Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday.

Wall went down with shoulder injury during a 130-122 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday that featured some trash talking back and forth and sat out Sunday's 107-96 victory at the Toronto Raptors, leaving Bradley Beal to assume the lead role. Beal responded with 38 points and is about to take on a Mavericks' defense that is allowing opponents to shoot 48 percent from the floor - 29th in the NBA. That Dallas defense is a big reason the team owns the worst record in the NBA, but offense isn't lighting up opponents, either. The Mavericks are losers of six in a row and failed to score 100 points in five of those six setbacks.

                            TV:
7 p.m. ET, FSN Southwest (Dallas), NBCSN Washington

ABOUT THE MAVERICKS (1-10): Dallas had a chance against the only team in the NBA with a worse defensive field-goal percentage on Saturday in the Minnesota Timberwolves but fell behind early and never recovered. "We’ve got to help each other out," rookie point guard Dennis Smith Jr. told reporters after the loss. "Help each other and get open. I really think that’s the main thing. If we can just set screens and help each other get open, it would be a lot easier." Smith recorded just one of Dallas' 18 assists on Saturday and totaled eight assists and 18 turnovers in the last four games.

ABOUT THE WIZARDS (5-4): Beal was going up against an All-Star in Toronto's DeMar DeRozan on Sunday and came away as the best player on the floor after going 16-of-26, including 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. "He's really good," Washington coach Scott Brooks told reporters of Beal. "It's not a fluke. He's one of the best guards in the league. He just scores from so many places on the floor, so it's hard to double-team him. And we move him around in our offense so (opponents) don't get a daily dose of the same thing." Beal is averaging 38 points over the last three games and is shooting 57.1 percent from the floor in that span.

                            BUZZER BEATERS

                            1. Wizards PF Markieff Morris is 3-of-14 from the floor in two games since returning from surgery to repair a sports hernia.

                            2. Mavericks PF Dirk Nowitzki, who is sixth all-time in the NBA in scoring (30,376), managed seven points in each of the last two games on a combined 5-of-17 shooting.

                            3. Dallas took both meetings last season and 13 of the last 14 in the series.

                            PREDICTION: Wizards 120, Mavericks 102

Kristaps Porzingis has elevated his game during the New York Knicks' current homestand, which ends Tuesday night against the Charlotte Hornets. The 22-year-old Porzingis scored a career-high 40 points in Sunday's 108-101 win over Indiana, which gave the Knicks a 3-1 mark on the homestand and their star forward an average of 33.5 points during the stay at Madison Square Garden.

"The challenge is never too big for me," Porzingis said Sunday after also producing eight rebounds and six blocked shots. "I always accept the challenge and that's why I knew coming into this season, if (Carmelo Anthony) was not going to be here, then I am going to have to be the guy." Porzingis is shooting 54.5 percent and averaging 2.8 blocked shots in six home games, compared to 40.9 and 1.0 on the road, and will take aim at a Hornets' team that has allowed an average of 110.3 points over a six-game span. Charlotte fell behind 97-79 after just three quarters en route to a loss at Minnesota on Sunday. Leading scorer Kemba Walker was held to a season-low nine points on 4-of-15 shooting - including 0-for-5 from 3-point range.

ABOUT THE HORNETS (5-5): Coach Steve Clifford expressed some frustration with the team's defensive effort Sunday, knowing that his roster cannot afford many issues on that end of the floor, especially with Walker struggling. "Our team is not overpowering offensively," Clifford told reporters. "We can get to be very good. But defensively, we can be great. That starts with the right attitude. And tonight, we had it totally backward." Forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, a key piece of the team's defensive game plan, has missed two straight games due to personal reasons and there is no timetable for his return.

ABOUT THE KNICKS (5-4): The Knicks are 5-1 when rookie Frank Ntilikina plays at least 10 minutes and the 19-year-old put forth one of his best stat lines in Sunday's win. He finished with season highs of 10 points and seven assists while making two 3-pointers for the first time in his young career and accumulating three steals in 24 minutes. "He shot it with [the mentality] 'OK, I'm going to make this one,'" coach Jeff Hornacek told reporters. "There was no doubt. That's great to see in a 19-year-old. He's finding his way out there. It says a lot about him and how he plays with confidence. He's not afraid of the moment."

                                1. Knicks C Enes Kanter entered Monday ranked sixth in the NBA in field-goal percentage (60.9) and seventh in rebounds (11.3).

                                2. Walker is 8-for-27 from the floor and averaging 11 points - more than 10 below his season average - in the last two games.

                                3. The Knicks took two of three meetings last season.

                                PREDICTION: Knicks 109, Hornets 102
