We get the better starter in this matchup with the White Sox and Indians, and I really like what Chicago has done to improve its lineup in the offseason. Plus a lot of young studs are a year older and ready for breakouts. Carlos Rodon is 5-3 with a 2.45 ERA in 14 previous starts against the Indians. Adam Plutko is 1-1 with a 9.31 ERA in two previous starts against Chicago. Give me the White Sox.

Los Angeles ace Walker Buehler makes his season debut tonight. He is quickly becoming one of the best starters in baseball. Buehler went 14-4 with a 3.26 ERA, a 1.042 WHIP and 10.6 K/9 in 2019.
The Dodgers felt like they were robbed of a World Series by the Astros a few years ago, and they want some revenge in this series. I think they will get that revenge starting with Game 1 of this series behind their ace in Buehler.
Framber Valdez is 8-8 with a 4.60 ERA and 1.523 WHIP in his career with the Astros, which has spanned the past two seasons. He is no match for Buehler here.
The Dodgers are 12-1 in their last 13 games as road favorites. Los Angeles is 36-16 in its last 52 games following a loss. The Dodgers are 41-11 in their last 52 games after scoring two runs or fewer in their previous games. Bet the Dodgers Tuesday.

I don't care if it's the Mariners. There is no way the Angels can be this big of a favorite considering their key injuries and not having the better starting pitcher. Seattle is in full rebuild mode. I get that. But I also get that the Angels have lost 40 of their last 57 games. Maybe the Angels get Anthony Rendon back for the first time this season. Maybe not as he's been out the first four games with an oblique injury. It's highly doubtful, though, the Angels will have their underrated shortstop Andrelton Simmons available. Simmons suffered an ankle injury on Monday.
The pitching matchup is Justus Sheffield versus Patrick Sandoval. Sheffield has a much higher ceiling. The Angels have never faced him. Sheffield will be facing an Angels squad that has scored only 11 runs in four games. Sandoval wasn't even supposed to start this game. However, Matt Andriese, who was supposed to start, was used for 5 2/3 innings of relief on Sunday. Sandoval went 0-4 with a 5.03 ERA in 10 appearances, including nine starts, as a rookie last season.

The Angels really haven’t found anything yet this season. Angels put up 11 total runs in 4 games. Also, the Angels pitching hasn’t been great by giving up 17 runs in 4 games.

I really like the price we are getting with the Mariners on Tuesday. Seattle comes into this game at 1-3, but a big reason for that is they had to open the series on the road with a 4-game series against one of the best teams in the league in the Astros.
Same can be said for the Angels, who are also 1-3 after a 4-game series at Oakland. However, the line here suggest that LA is the far superior team and I just don't buy it, especially with the starting pitching matchup.
Mariners will turn to Justus Sheffield, who I believe is poised for a breakout year. The former 1st round pick didn't have a great 2019 season, posting a 5.50 ERA and 1.72 WHIP in 8 appearances (7 starts). However, we know the talent is there and he's shown that in both spring training and summer camp. He pitched 4 perfect innings in his final intrasquad start, striking out 8 of the 12 guys he faced.
Angels will send out Patrick Sandoval, who also had a rough 2019, posting a 5.03 ERA and 1.37 WHIP in 10 appearances (9 starts). I just don't think the same promise is there with Sandoval as there is with Sheffield. Sandoval also gave up 5 runs in 3 innings in his final tune-up for the start of the new season. Give me the Mariners +165!

The Rockies took 2 of 3 on the road against the Rangers and I really like the spot here tonight for them. They had a day off yesterday while Oakland finished up a 4 game series. They took to their rival Angels winning the series 3-1. Way too expensive here for the A's to be laying with one of their bottom end pitchers in Mengden. Mengden was suppose to be a bullpen guy anyways if Puk their stud youngster was healthy.

The San Diego Padres head out on the road after opening the 2020 season by taking THREE of four at home vs the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Giants return to San Francisco after splitting four games in LA vs the Dodgers to open their season. However, the Giants have to consider their four-day trip to Dodger Stadium as a 'win,' after losing 8-1 and 9-1 to open the series but rebounding to win 5-4 and 3-1.
Zach Davies (10-7, 3.55 ERA in 2019 for Milwaukee) gets the ball for the Padres, while Jeff Samardzija (11-12, 3.52 ERA in 2019) starts the Giants' 2020 season-opener. Davies was acquired by the Padres last November from Milwaukee, where the righty went 43-32 (3.91 ERA) over 111 appearances (all starts) in five seasons. Davies failed to pitch past five innings in each of his final 11 starts in 2019 but was 2-0 with a 2.31 ERA in five September outings. He owns a 2.86 ERA in four career starts vs the Giants but is 0-2 (Milwaukee went 2-2).
The 35-year-old Samardzija began his career with Cubs (back in 2008 but 2020 will be his FIFTH season with the Giants. He pitched better than his 2019 record indicates, which has been fairly typical of his career. Samardzija posted a 2.94 ERA in 14 starts after the All-Star break in 2019 (while limiting opponents to a .205 average) but was only able to manage a 5-5 record. He is 9-4 with a 3.58 ERA in 21 career appearances (19 starts / teams are 12-7) against San Diego in his career.
I haven't had much luck backing Samardzija in recent years but I will back him here (as a small play) at this very generous price.
