Sidney Crosby and the Penguins are tied at 1 in their best-of-5 NHL playoff series with the Canadiens. Pittsburgh is a -170 favorite in Wednesday's Game 3, with Montreal a +155 underdog.

NHL betting odds continue to attract attention, as the revamped playoffs roll out six Wednesday games. The schedule includes a couple of key matchups in round-robin playoff seeding, as well as Game 3 of the Penguins-Canadiens best-of-5 qualifying series.

Caesars sportsbooks provided insights on NHL opening lines and early line movement, sharp money and public betting for Wednesday’s contests. Covers will update this action report with NHL sharp picks vs. public bets and line movement throughout the day.

NHL line movement

Pittsburgh rebounded from a Game 1 loss to Montreal with a 3-1 Game 2 victory Monday and now aims to get the upper hand in this best-of-5 series. The Penguins opened -165 favorites Tuesday night at Caesars books and quickly moved to -170, with the Canadiens +155 for an 8 p.m. ET faceoff.

The Lightning and Bruins meet in each team’s second game of a three-game round-robin to determine seeding among the top four teams in the Eastern Conference. Boston is narrow -110 chalk to Tampa Bay’s -105, and there was no line movement by late Tuesday for this 4 p.m. ET start.

In the Western Conference round-robin, the Avalanche opened -125 against the Stars (+110), and that matchup also had no movement by late Tuesday for a 6:30 p.m. ET puck drop.

It's clear the Penguins are the early public play in this contest. Pittsburgh was seeing 66 percent of moneyline picks Tuesday night.

Washington has dropped all 3 of their games since setting up camp in Orlando and their last pair of losses have held Under the total. Expect this one to head Over as Philadelphia's Over trend has not stopped since arriving in the Magic Kingdom. Brett Brown's team went to the work stoppage having played 6 straight Overs and their pair of games thus far in the NBA bubble have also landed Over the total.

That's 8 straight Overs for the Sixers and 15 Overs played in their last 20 games on the year!

Series numbers also point towards this one seeing more than a few points on the scoreboard as their last meeting in December played Over the total to make it 3 of the last 4 series meetings playing High. The Over also happens to be 7-3 the last 10 times the teams have jumped ball against one another.

Washington has nothing left to play for and while they may be doing some "team bonding" for next season, I doubt they will care all that much about playing defense.

Philly needs to pick off a few wins to up their stock in the Eastern Conference seed-board and they figure to do that here with a big number posted.

Tonight I am all set to build off of that Run Line Winner on the Rockies as I find another winner and recoup some more profits.

The Lakers were able to win and cover their third of eight games in the NBA bubble on Monday as they beat the Utah Jazz 116-108 which clinched the overall # 1 seed for the upcoming Western Conference playoffs to come.

The Thunder have played a pair in the bubble and have split the pair both straight up and against the spread. The OKC win came against Uath, while the loss came their last time out to the Denver Nuggets in overtime. Oklahoma City currently sits in the 6th spot in the standings, but they could definitely boost their seeding with a few wins here to close out the regular season.

I have a feeling that now that Los Angeles has secured the # 1 seed, you may see Coach Fran Vogel ease back on the gas pedal just a little in how many minutes he gives LeBron James and Anthony Davis as they get set for the playoffs to begin. That being the case, have to give the points they are giving to the hungry Thunder a play here on Wednesday night.

Oklahoma City has been a rock-solid play plus the points all season long as they enter this game at 26-10 when getting points. A closer look shows the Thunder at 13-5 when getting +3 to +9 1/2 this season.

Conversely, Los Angeles is just 12-14 when favored by -1 to -7 points. The Lakers have won all 3 of the season series meetings this year, but have only covered in 1 of those 3 victories - all as the favorite.

Los Angeles now has little to play for until the postseason starts and while they won't just lay down and roll over, they certainly need to watch out for any unneeded injuries.

Oklahoma City still with plenty on the line and I see them staying inside of the number today in Orlando.

My free play is on the Cincinnati Reds once again, as I like their young pitcher going tonight, rookie right-hander Tejay Antone.

He's made one relief appearance for the Reds, firing 4.1 innings of one-hit, one-run ball in an 8-7 loss to the Cubs on July 27. He also struck out five and walked just one.

But now he's doing something he's used to, starting.

The Reds’ fifth-round pick in the 2014 draft, Antone spent time in the minors working on his arsenal, and was 11-12 with a 4.00 ERA at Double-A Chattanooga and Triple-A Louisville.

I always like to look deeper into why certain pitchers have the records they do when making their first big-league start, and a lot of times you'll find they've been working on specific pitches, and don't really care if their pitches are being sprayed across the outfield.

The good news for this kid is his durability. He can go deep into games, and has the arm strength to throw plenty of pitches. His sinker arrives at 95.8 miles per hour, and the impressive stat with this kid is his spin rate of 2655 ranked No. 1 among all MLB numbers from last season. Add in his slider, a deceptive 83.0 mph trick, and his curve that drops out of sight while traveling at 79.8 mph, and I like his chances to handcuff Cleveland.

My free winner is on the Angels against the Mariners, and I'm playing this one on the run line.

Since every MLB wager on a run line or total auto-lists pitchers, I want you to be sure the two pitchers on your ticket, when making this play, are Dylan Bundy and Marco Gonzales. If they are not the pitchers of record when making your play, disregard this play. There is a chance Bundy won't go, but as of Midnight, he is the pitcher of record.

This is a revenge game for Bundy, who took the loss last week against the Mariners and Gonzales. And it wasn't as if he deserved the loss and would like to forget it. On the contrary, he was stellar for the Halos, giving up three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out eight over six innings in a loss to Seattle seven days ago.

His only mistake was a three-run home run to Jose Marmolejos in the first inning, but from there he was masterful. Bundy now has a 2.84 ERA through 12.2 innings this season.

Considering Gonzales is scheduled to start opposite Bundy again, the motivation factor increases.
