IN DEEP THOUGHT seems to be the wager in here. Could best this group based on the Equibase Speed Figure - 72 - of her last effort. Over time, this trainer has a decent return on investment at this distance/surface. Bednar has a win percentage of 24 over the last month. KINDLY CARTEL - Looks respectable for the conditions of this competition today, showing solid figs in short races recently. Solid jockey and trainer combo winning 17 percent of their races working together. ARCANA - Solid average speed figs in short races make this animal a solid contender. With better than average trips to the winner's circle, Cervantes will almost certainly have this gelding in excellent position to win the outing.

GORGEOUS ROAD - Always watch out for the longer priced horse when a trainer has an 'uncoupled' entry in a race. Last race at Charles Town on Jun 27th was a big class drop for this horse. Facing similar foes in today's race. She should do well this time out. YODEL LADY - Entered a $5,000 Claiming race at Charles Town in the last race and raced on a sloppy track finishing ninth. I'd expect a better race in this event. A FOOLISH SMILE - This animal could be tough this race, especially since Almodovar rode last out and now should be acquainted with this one. Ran against the males in her last race on Jul 30th. When Almodovar and Figgins work together on horses the return on investment has been fantastic at +72. I think this filly is coming into top form.

Hard to give her another chance. Will not be easy for this horse to beat this field off of that last speed rating. Not probable to improve enough to run a figure close enough to today's class figure, so put her on the questionable challengers list. WAKES UP HAPPY - Pedestrian speed figure in the last race at Charles Town at 6 1/2 furlongs. Don't think this horse will improve too much today.

TIZ THE LAW is my choice. His 104 average has this colt with among the top Equibase Speed Figures for this race. This entrant has been constatntly racing well recently. With a strong 113 Equibase Speed Figure last time out, will surely be a factor in this contest. CARACARO - He looks very good in this slot and I expect will be on the lead or close at the midpoint. I like the jockey on this colt - very good chance to win the race. SOUTH BEND - Has solid Equibase Class Figures relative to this field - worth a look. Can't overlook the connections here, a 19 winning percentage, one of the best at getting into the winner's circle.

THE ANGRY MAN - Nice winning percentage this jockey and conditioner tandem have been putting together. I expect a lot from this horse. His speed figs under similar conditions are tops in this bunch. Magner brings him back again. I recommend you stay with this hot gelding. Came home in fast time last race out. A positive sign. GLYNN COUNTY - This is a fairly classic handicapping angle. Play a thoroughbred that finished 2nd in a maiden race last time out but finished well ahead of the third horse. Earned a nice turf number on Jul 26th at Saratoga. A repeat today, and this one has a great shot to win. I like to invest in this handicapping angle, a horse coming back off a solid effort within the last 30 days. This racer broke from the outside at Saratoga last time out, racing 1 1/16 miles, but is getting a low post position in this race, which should help his chances today. The 99 recent race speed figure looks strong in the TrackMaster PPs. Horse has improved at least two speed figure points in last two races. I look for that to continue in this field. COMPLIANT - All systems look good for this colt. Last work, 2nd fastest of the day, shows he's fit and ready. Brown is great in grass routes. This horse should have no excuses if he doesn't win. Don't throw this one out due to his last event at Keeneland where he finished fourth on the soft turf. Should improve this time around. CHOCOLATE BAR - This thoroughbred ran outside the top 3 at Keeneland in the last race on the soft turf. He should improve in this race on a fast track.
