MY MOONSHINE - I expect a lot from this horse. His Equibase speed figures under similar conditions are tops in this group. Looking at today's class figure, this racer is up against an easier field than last out at Laurel. You may want to overlook that last contest at Laurel on a sloppy track where he finished out of the money. Should do well in this event without a sloppy track.

SINGLE FOCUS - Doesn't appear to have enough positive aspects to bear out the value. MATSUDA - Just cannot wager on this runner. Didn't show me anything positive in the last race or on Jul 10th. WATCHTHEBOURBON - Very long layoff, then came back and finished fifth. Hard to expect much better today. Hasn't been getting close at all lately.

I've got to go with REND LAKE BABY. This filly is coming right back to race. This equine is prominent in this group of horses in this race in earnings per start at the distance/surface. Has been running solidly and has among the most respectable speed in the race for today's distance. I LUV THIS BAR - Always seems to be right there on the wire. She has been running well and the Equibase speed figs are among the top in this group of animals. CATANIA - Has performed well recently in sprint races, posting a nifty 58 avg Equibase Speed Figure. Horses who have been prepared to race at this distance and surface by Becker have shown strong results recently.

I've got to go with DRIFTWOOD. Must be given a shot - I like the numbers from the last race. The average class fig of 61 makes this one tough to beat. LIDO LEGACY - Ran a strong last race. Has run strongly when racing a dirt route race. NOBLE AUTHORITY - Graham has this gelding running well and is a very strong choice based on the respectable Equibase Speed Figures recorded in route races lately. He has been running well and the Equibase Speed Figures are among the top in this field.

DADDY'S COZY - Speed figs on the turf point to this thoroughbred as a legit contender. Has the best in the field for this distance and surface. Faced tougher last time out at Laurel. Based on class ratings, this is a weaker group, so I will put this one on my list of strong contenders. My expertise says this is the lone presser in the race. I wouldn't worry too much about the layoff; this gelding is ready to run today. Last out, ran the last quarter in less than 25 ticks. That indicates to me he can close well, and should be right there at the end in today's race. When I handicap a grass race, I think sometimes class ratings are more important than speed figs. This magnificent animal has the highest average class in the entire bunch. Ranks number one in the field in earnings per race entered. A solid try in today's race can add to the lifetime total.

Vulnerable Contenders: #9 PASSPORT (ML=3/1), #4 RONIN WARRIOR (ML=7/2), #8 AHSAD (ML=7/2),

PASSPORT - Difficult to put any dough on this gelding on the win end. Likes to land in the money though. RONIN WARRIOR - Unlikely that the speed figure he garnered on Aug 3rd will be enough in this clash. AHSAD - A thoroughbred that breaks his maiden in a Maiden Claimer is usually recognized as a poor risk next time. Finished first in his most recent effort with a pedestrian fig. When I look at today's class rating, it would take an improved performance to score after that in this bunch.
