MLB public betting, line movement for August 22

Mookie Betts and the Dodgers face the Rockies in a prime-time NL West clash Saturday night. FanDuel Sportsbook opened Los Angeles a -215 favorite, and the line quickly moved to -230.

MLB betting odds are on the board for the Saturday slate, with 15 games available and seeing action. That includes a matchup between the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have the best record in baseball, and the Colorado Rockies.

FanDuel Sportsbook provided insights on MLB opening lines and early line movement, sharp money and public betting for Saturday’s games.

MLB line movement

The Dodgers are 9-1 in their last 10 games, and they trot out another solid pitcher Saturday in Dustin May (1-1, 3.00 ERA) to face a Rockies outfit that has cooled considerably at 1-8 in its last nine games. FanDuel opened Los Angeles -215 Friday evening and went to -230 within a couple of hours, with Colorado +198 for a 9:10 p.m. ET first pitch.

In the Windy City, the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Cubs get together for Game 2 of their weekend set, in an 8:15 p.m. ET start. The White Sox boatraced the host Cubs 10-1 on Friday night. The line for Saturday’s game wasn’t posted Friday night.

The Atlanta Braves rolled over the Philadelphia Phillies 11-2 Friday night, but the Phillies come back Saturday with Zack Wheeler (3-0, 2.81 ERA). FanDuel opened Philadelphia a -126 favorite, but the first couple of moves were toward Atlanta, and the line was at Phillies -112/Braves -102 late Friday night. Game time is 7:10 p.m.

MLB public betting

The Consensus is a good gauge of where public betting is, and for Saturday’s games, it’s with the Dodgers. Los Angeles was landing 74 percent of early picks against the Rockies. Meanwhile, the Braves were taking 60 percent of early Consensus picks against the Phillies.
