Necaxa has been terrible this season, so it is definitely interesting that it has been installed as a favorite over Pumas, which is fighting to climb up into the top half of the Liga MX standings and has been far more competitive. A deeper dive sees Pumas really floundering due to injuries and facing a host side that is likely going to be a playing better soccer under new coach Memo Vasquez, who is 1-1 since taking over. UNAM Pumas has historically struggled at the Estadio Victoria too, so we'll ride Necaxa for this free play.

The Reds' Tyler Mahle is coming off a season in which he produced a career-best 11.33 K/9, 3.40 xERA, and 3.88 FIP. But what I really like about the young righty is his terrific 20.5% Hard Contact Rate on the road last season. He did give up 2 homers in 5 innings against the Cardinals in his season debut, but he also struck out 9 batters. Arizona has only managed more than 3 runs twice in seven games this season, and one of those was against a lefty.
Taylor Widener made 12 relief appearances last season and made his first career start in San Diego five days ago, tossing six shutout innings. The problem for Widener here is that he's facing the hottest offense in all of MLB, as the Reds are averaging 9.5 runs per game (#1 in MLB). They gave Mahle 9 runs of support against Adam Wainwright and the Cardinals in his season debut. They've never faced Widener, so they may not get to him the first time through the lineup, but I expect them to plate a few runs off the young righty before he exits. I don't expect the Reds will need many runs here. Lay it with CINCINNATI.

That said, what are the odds of which club picks up the victory here? Well Fulham is getting more of the attention in that regard as they are on their home pitch. However, is playing this one at Craven Cottage in London really a big plus for Fulham? Not at all! Other than draws, 12 decisions for Fulham at home and 10 were losses and only 2 were victories! As for Wolverhampton, other than draws they have only 7 losses against 4 wins as travelers this season. One could argue that the Wolves have double the chance of Fulham for picking up a victory here based on the above and yet this one certainly is not priced that way. I like the fact that Wolverhampton showed some heart in battling back from a 3-0 deficit to West Ham in their most recent fixture even though they ultimately fell short in the 3-2 loss. GUNMAN - Maker is strong in turf sprints. This equine should have no alibis if he doesn't win. Have to watch for this animal on the turf. Last race at Gulfstream Park, scored a big turf figure. Have to think he can do it again in this field. A repeat of that most recent race on Mar 21st where he registered a fig of 88 looks high enough to win in this race. This animal earns a lot of dough per race. I believe he can augment that total in this event.

Vulnerable Contenders: #1 SOUPER BOOM (ML=5/2), #8 MENELIK (ML=9/2), #5 COTTON JIM (ML=8/1),

SOUPER BOOM - 5/2 is not enough of a value to take on most any thoroughbred that has run poorly in back to back races. MENELIK - In any event of 5 furlongs, I like to bet on a contender that has been sharp in short distance races recently. COTTON JIM - Doesn't seem inspiring to me after the lack of any sort of closing ability on March 18th. Mediocre speed rating last time out at Gulfstream Park at 6 1/2 furlongs. Don't believe this horse will improve too much in today's event.
