    Oaklawn Park - Race #3 - Post: 2:02pm - Claiming - 8.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $28,000 Class Rating: 81

    Rating:

    #1 FABULOUS GIRL (ML=7/2)

FABULOUS GIRL - A thoroughbred coming back this soon after a nice effort is a good sign. If this mare gets out of the gate cleanly, she'll be tough to catch. The 73 last race rating looks good on paper.

    Vulnerable Contenders: #5 INDIAN BELLA (ML=5/2), #6 MONKEY MIND (ML=4/1), #2 BIG TINY (ML=9/2),

INDIAN BELLA - Hasn't been on the Oaklawn Park oval in the last three weeks. Cause for some concern. When examining today's class rating, she will have to record a better speed figure than last race out to be competitive in this dirt route. MONKEY MIND - A rallier like this one needs a speed duel to set things up and she isn't likely to get one this time out. BIG TINY - Tough for this closer horse to get up today. Without a hot pace to stir things up, the lone early speed is going to make it awfully hard to get the job done.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: #1 FABULOUS GIRL to win at post-time odds of 1/1 or better
    EXACTA WAGERS: Pass

    TRIFECTA WAGERS:

Memphis is ending a 4 game road trip that has seen them win all 3 games leading up to this Friday night meeting at the Garden. Not only that, but the Grizzlies have played Over the total in their last pair of wins at Miami and Atlanta.

I do not think they are heading Over the total tonight against the defensive-minded New York Knicks who just held Boston to only 101 points on Wednesday, but since they were only able to net 99 it was not a win for the Knickerbockers. although it was another Under.

The Knicks have now played Under the total in 6 of their last 8 games and are 32-20 Under the total for the season.

The Grizzlies had been Under the total in 3 straight prior to landing Over in their last pair of games.

This will be the first meeting of the year between the teams who have seen 4 of their last 6 series meetings hold Under the total.

Going with a lower-scoring defensive battle in this West vs. East meeting tonight.

        3* MEMPHIS-NEW YORK UNDER

I know what you're thinking, because I did too. How would anyone play the Over in a New York Knicks game? But, it's Friday night on Broadway - well, close enough - and both the New York Knicks and Memphis Grizzlies are clinging to their respective 8-seeds in the Eastern and Western Conferences.

Fact is, the Knicks actually know how to change their pace, and adjust offensively when facing offensively efficient teams. And since mid-March, the Memphis Grizzlies have been one of the most efficient teams in the league.

The Grizzlies also rank sixth in the league with 100.6 possessions per 48 minutes, a tad higher than the league average of 99.1. There is no doubt Memphis will try to push the pace early on, knowing the Knicks' tendency is to have its defense establish itself. And because the Grizzlies have won four straight behind an average of 122.7 points per game, I also believe they'll have the edge early on.

It'll be on the Knicks to find their way to the scoreboard, much like we saw them do in putting up 125 in Detroit on Saturday, or when they threw a 112-spot up in Brooklyn on Monday.

The Knicks and Grizzlies will engage in a nice little shootout here. Play the Over.

          2* OVER Grizzlies-Knicks

Tough spot for the Bulls here on Friday as they just played last night down in Florida against the Toronto Raptors and will now have to face an Atlanta Hawks team that will be looking to get the bad taste of a home blowout loss at the hands of the Memphis Grizzlies out of their mouths.

Atlanta had come into Wednesday's home date against the Grizzlies winners of 4 in a row both straight up and against the spread, but they were hammered by 18 in the setback.

Still, Nate McMillan's team is holding down the 5th spot of the Eastern Conference leaderboard as they get set to try get back into the win column against a Chicago team that has now won their last 3 after shredding the Raptors last night.

Chicago had lost 6 in a row prior to this 3 game uptick as they get set to play against an Atlanta team that beat them soundly just before Christmas in a 124-104 romp in the Windy City.

The Hawks are 13-5 since McMillan took over as head coach and I say go ahead and move that mark to 14-5 with the home win and cover here on Friday at State Farm Arena.

The St. Louis Blues might be back on track, maybe.

The snapped a seven-game losing streak on Wednesday by beating one of the top teams in the league, the Vegas Golden Knights, and just like that the Blues are two points closer to the fourth-place Arizona Coyotes in the West Division.

Because they didn't have to travel, and because they're going to be looking to ride the wave of emotion from Wednesay, I can see the Blues capitalizing on what could be a very tired Minnesota Wild team tonight.

The Wild finished a four-game road trip that went to San Jose and Las Vegas, and had to host the high-flying Colorado Avalanche on Monday and Wednesday. Now they're back on the road. That two-game home sandwich could've been against anyone else, but the Avs?? Both games tallied 20 goals.

Perspective: the heavy and rugged Blues have seen their last four games tally just 19 goals.

This is pure value with a Blues team we should see Jordan Binnington in net, after his 50-save victory against the Golden Knights. Everyone knows he is a streaky goaltender that tends to get hot about this time.

The Blues have won 12 of their last 17 at home against the Wild and will stay in the West Division hunt with a win tonight.

My comp winner on Friday comes in the NHL where you can count on some lamps being lit in the Avalanche-Ducks skate in Orange County.

Colorado knows how to score the little black disc, as they come into this meeting with 27 goals scored over their last 6 games played and the Over has gone 4-2 in those 6 games.

Anaheim may not be as prolific on the offensive end, but 3 of their last 4 games played have gone Over the posted total.

This will be the last pair of regular season skates between the teams this season and each of the last 3 series meetings have landed Over the total.

Colorado has played their last 4 away games in the Over column and this one sure looks like another Over to me.
