NFL | Chiefs vs Raiders

Chiefs/Raiders 8:20: Raiders play the dog role well at 5-1 ATS. Chiefs, however, are a money burning 2-8 ATS in their last 10 as chalk. Chiefs do have the Super Bowl pedigree to pull out wins but are doing it in sloppy fashion. They're last in the league in turnovers (19) and allow a generous 25.2 PPG. Raiders have a respectable defense this season under DC Gus Bradley. Raiders are yielding against the run but KC run game not that explosive behind an offensive line that has never quite gotten it together this season. Backup RB Darrel Williams averages 3.6 YPC. Raiders secondary solid and can bring pressure on the QB; consequently, they control the #5 pass defense in the NFL. And offensively, despite the loss of Ruggs, Carr has a wealth of weapons with TE Waller, Renfrow, RB Jacobs and DeSean Jackson on deck. With the home team 7-2 ATS the last 9, we'll grab a few points and even buy a half here vs a team that still has the ability to close.

The biggest reason the Chiefs are struggling on offense is poor play and injuries on the offensive line. They have averaged just 12.0 points per game the last three weeks against the Titans, Giants and Packers. And it's not going to get much easier for them against this underrated Las Vegas defense that is actually the best in the NFL at getting after opposing quarterbacks. The Raiders had beaten both the Broncos and Eagles by double-digits before getting upset by the Giants 23-16 on the road last week. But that was a misleading final as the Raiders had 403 yards against the Giants and held them to just 247 yards while outgaining them by 156 yards. The Raiders had three turnovers, including a pick-six, and struggled in the red zone. They won't struggle to put the ball in the end zone against this suspect Kansas City defense that has held them back all year. The Chiefs are 5-16 ATS in their last 21 games overall. Kansas City is 2-8 ATS in its last 10 games as a favorite. The Raiders are 5-1 ATS in their last six games as underdogs. The home team is 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings. Give me the Raiders.

I never would have thought I would be this hesitant to lay less than a field goal with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, but I just can't help myself. I know the Chiefs are not the team we thought they were going to be and Mahomes doesn't look like he's playing with any confidence or seeing the field well, but things in the NFL can flip in the other way in the blink of an eye.
I just don't believe that we are going to keep seeing Mahomes struggle like he has. A lot of people forget he had a similar 3-game stretch back in 2019, the year KC won it all, and he figured it out. This is also not something that has been a problem all year. This Chiefs offense was at or near the top of most offensive categories early in this season.
Facing a team like the Raiders could be just what the doctor ordered. In his last 3 starts against the Raiders, Mahomes has thrown for 1,131 yards (377 ypg) with 8 TDs to just 2 INTs.
I also think people are sleeping on this KC defense. Everyone wants to focus on the struggles on offense. No one is giving any notice to how much better the Chiefs defense has been playing. I loved the move of signing Ingram, which allows Chris Jones to move back inside, they are much better at LB than they were early in the year and they finally are limiting the stats of Daniel Sorenson.
You also got a Raiders offense that is still trying to adjust to life without their top wide out in Henry Ruggs. I'm not saying KC is going to steamroll Las Vegas, but I'm confident they find a way to win this game. Give me the Chiefs -2.5!

JACCACI - This filly was sharp enough to post a 'top two' workout recently. I think she's ready for today's event. I am keen on that most recent effort on October 20th at Keeneland where she ran fourth. Coming off a fourth place finish at Keeneland, some may pass on this horse. I'm not. She just missed hitting the show spot, and has respectable odds today. This filly's last speed fig is high enough to score here, I'll wager on her back again today. Has a decent chance to break maiden moving to the main track in this event. FAST AND FLIRTY - This filly is in nice physical condition, having run a good race on October 15th, finishing second. Got to love a filly who outruns her odds in her initial bow. Filly did just that back on Oct 15th. Earnings per race is something that I believe can be a key selection factor. This horse is ranked number one in this field. TROBAIRITZ - This thoroughbred could be tough this time, especially since Doyle rode last out and now should be acquainted with this one. Jones moves this filly to the dirt today. Look for a marked improvement from the most recent grass race. MITIGATION - Mott will try adding the 'shades' today in hopes of an improved performance.

SOCIAL MATRIX - Couldn't make up any ground at any point on Oct 8th. Hard to wager on this time around at the expected odds. This filly garnered a speed rating in her last clash which probably isn't good enough in today's race. LA CRETE - Would have to get quite a bit more than the morning line of 5/1 to invest in this horse. COCO PUFF - Somewhat easily forgotten speed figure last time out at Keeneland at 1 1/16 miles. Don't think this vulnerable equine will improve too much in today's race.

ROYAL QUEEN - Was in an Allowance race at Albuquerque last time around the track. That clash had a class rating of 80 and she is moving down in this field. A certain strong challenger. This filly is certainly on the improve with speed figs of 48, 56, 70 last three out. PRETTY SAYLEE - Sarmiento comes to race again after getting to know the filly in the last race. Have to give this filly a good shot. Ran a sharp effort last race out within the last thirty days. Filly won shipping here on Oct 26th and looks good right back. The jockey/conditioner duo of Sarmiento and Armstrong has a strong ROI together. PP lines show this pony with three improving speed ratings. Sarmiento should be on a horse ready to go in this field. INDIAN FIREBLOSSOM - All systems look good for this filly. Last prep, 2nd fastest of the day, shows she's fit and ready. When Fincher gives Chirinos a leg up on any steed, you know full well that with their win pct you have at least a fighting chance. Fincher has an 'uncoupled' entry here. Best to beware of the longer priced half. Ran in the last race against much better company at Zia Park. The move to a lower level should suit her well.
