The Texas A&M Aggies were disappointed they didn't make the NCAA Tournament. They came out flat against Alcorn State in their NIT opener, but turned it on the 2nd half to pull away for a 74-62 victory. They have been making a statement ever since.
The Aggies went on to beat Oregon 75-60 as 4-point favorites, Wake Forest 67-52 as 2.5-point favorites and Washington State 72-56 as 2-point favorites. That's three wins against three quality teams all by 15 points or more. I look for them to put it on Xavier tonight.
Xavier hasn't been nearly as impressive. The Musketeers have three wins by 7 points or less in the NIT thus far. They have been shooting lights out their last two games despite being without one of their best players in Paul Scruggs. They shot 52.9% against Vanderbilt and 53.1% against St. Bonaventure, yet were still in dog fights with both teams.
The Musketeers aren't going to shoot that well against Texas A&M, which has allowed 39.3% or less in five consecutive games. The Aggies have also allowed 65 or fewer points in seven consecutive games and are really getting after it on the defensive end. I trust them to shut down Xavier and cover this short number in the NIT Championship to complete a tremendous season under Buzz Williams. Bet Texas A&M Thursday.

This is a free play on Texas A&M.
The Aggies finished the season winning seven of their last eight games, and that streak included upsets versus #4 Auburn, #15 Arkansas and #22 Alabama. It was a bit of a surprise that they didn't get an invite to the NCAA Tournament, and their coach said that "it defies logic". They will be looking to make a point here in the NIT Final versus Xavier. The Musketeers lost eight of their final 10 games this season, and went just 1-5 straight up against the top three teams in the Big East. The Aggies are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 overall, while Xavier is just 3-8 ATS in their last 11 overall.

Thursday NHL Free play. My selection is on New York over Columbus at 7:05 pm et on Thursday.
The Islanders defeated the Blue Jackets in Columbus two nights ago and I expect them to deliver another victory back home in the same matchup on Thursday. Note that the Jackets are a woeful 5-20 when playing on the road off a loss against a divisional foe over the last three seasons, as is the case here, outscored by 1.7 goals on average in that situation. Worse still, Columbus is 3-16 when on the road off two or more consecutive losses over the last two seasons, which is also the situation here, outscored by an average margin of 1.8 goals. The Isles, meanwhile, despite enduring a trying campaign, remain a terrific 30-12 at home against division opponents over the last two seasons, outscoring opponents by 1.4 goals on average in those matchups. Take New York.
