        Belterra Park - Race #1 - Post: 11:25am - Claiming - 6.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $17,500 Class Rating: 58

        Rating:

        #6 CHOCOLATE RABBIT (ML=3/1)
        #3 PECKS NOT BAD (ML=7/2)

CHOCOLATE RABBIT - This speedball is shortening up today. Should promote his chances to win. Zip is always important in horse racing, but the lone speed horse is always dangerous. This gelding is in good physical condition, having run a strong race on Jul 15th, finishing second. PECKS NOT BAD - You always have to be on the lookout for money generating rider/conditioner teams; we have an instance right here. I think this gelding is ready to run a good one. He's had enough efforts since the vacation and should be fit. Last event at Belterra Park on Jul 6th was a big class drop for this horse. Facing similar foes right here. He should do well in today's event. This horse ran well at Belterra Park on June 14th. Bounced in the last race, but should rebound today with a sharp effort.

        Vulnerable Contenders: #5 PRIMITIVO (ML=2/1), #1 WHISKEY HELPS (ML=9/2), #4 ROLLIN SO PERFECT (ML=6/1),

PRIMITIVO - Jul 4th is the last time we've seen this gelding around. Have to be a little bit leery. WHISKEY HELPS - If you keep choosing these kind of 'bridesmaid' types, you're going to be frustrated frequently. Won't be easy for this animal to beat this bunch off of that last speed rating. Doubtful to improve enough to run a figure close to today's class rating, so put him on the likely underpriced equines list. ROLLIN SO PERFECT - Hasn't finished in the money in any short distance affairs of late. Unlikely to see him doing it this time either. Multiple tries for this runner at Belterra Park and still hasn't received his first victory here.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: Put your money on #6 CHOCOLATE RABBIT on the nose if you can get odds of 3/1 or more

          Race 4 - Claiming - 8.3f on the Dirt. Purse: $18000 Class Rating: 92

FOR THREE YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD. THREE YEAR OLDS, 121 LBS.; OLDER, 125 LBS. NON-WINNERS OF A RACE AT A MILE OR OVER IN 2023 ALLOWED 2 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $15,000, IF FOR $12,500, ALLOWED 3 LBS.

          RECOMMENDED CHOICES
          # 1 PROVOST 2/1
          # 3 AFFIRM CHIEF 7/2
          # 5 Y VEE R 4/1
PROVOST is the most competitive wager in this race. This gelding with Negron in the saddle makes him a key contender. He has been racing quite well as of late while recording very strong Equibase Speed Figures. Going in a dirt route race gives this gelding a competitive shot. AFFIRM CHIEF - Is difficult not to consider based on speed figures which have been strong - 77 avg - of late. Has been running very well and has among the best speed in the race for today's distance. Y VEE R - This gelding obviously likes the distance, going 2 for 6 in his races lately. Has been running soundly lately and will most likely be on the front end early on.

            Evangeline Downs - Race #2 - Post: 5:57pm - Maiden Claiming - 8.0 furlongs on the Dirt. Purse: $10,000 Class Rating: 62

            Rating:

            #8 LOST GOLD (ML=2/1)
            #5 SHOETRICK (ML=5/1)

LOST GOLD - Jockey hops up aboard after getting to know the mount by riding last time out. That's always a good indicator. Last time he ran at this distance he notched a speed fig good enough to win today's race. The jockey and trainer combination have a beneficial return on investment when they work together. This gelding is in nice form. Ended up second on July 15th. SHOETRICK - He has the top earnings per race entered. Give the once over to this one.

            Vulnerable Contenders: #2 KAT'S SOLDIER (ML=3/1), #4 BOSS MAN ZONG (ML=4/1), #7 POWER MASTER (ML=8/1),

KAT'S SOLDIER - This runner ran a quite unimpressive speed rating last out. He shouldn't run better and will likely suffer defeat in today's event running that fig. BOSS MAN ZONG - This questionable contender hasn't been close to the winner at the finish recently. POWER MASTER - 8/1 odds isn't enough for this thoroughbred when looking at the most recent showings.

GUEST COMMENTARY: The Brain - LOST GOLD - Horse did finish 2nd last out at Evangeline Downs, but was well ahead of the 3rd place finisher. Pretty good indication he could improve today and find his way to the winner's circle for the 1st time.

STRAIGHT WAGERS: Bet on #8 LOST GOLD to win if we can get at least 5/2 odds
            EXACTA WAGERS: Box [5,8]

            TRIFECTA WAGERS:

              Race 10 - Claiming - 6.0f on the Dirt. Purse: $13200 Class Rating: 72

FOR FILLIES AND MARES THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD WHICH HAVE NEVER WON FOUR RACES OR WHICH HAVE NOT WON TWO RACES IN 2023. THREE YEAR OLDS, 121 LBS.; OLDER, 123 LBS. CLAIMING PRICE $5,000.

              RECOMMENDED CHOICES
              # 2 BINALLOVERDRINKEN 2/1
              # 3 ROBTHEQUEEN 10/1
              # 9 GRAN MANNA 9/2
BINALLOVERDRINKEN should be supported as the bet in here. Medellin will almost certainly be able to get this mare to break out early in this race. GRAN MANNA - Could best this group of animals here, showing decent figures of late. She has very good class ratings, averaging 82, and has to be given consideration here.

                          #13
Saratoga - 7/28 KEVIN COX SELECTIONS

                          Race 1
                          1.Mischief Joke
                          2.Jake's Orchard
                          3.Aggelos the Great
#7 MISCHIEF JOKE has hit the board in all three starts to date, and the best of those came in the most recent when having eye cups added for the first time. Third place finisher from that deal returned a victor when next in action ( upping the speed figure by a couple of points ), and fella could do with some pace to cut into. #5 JAKE'S ORCHARD showed little in the bow, but was a bit green at the onset, and we like that there's no scary drop. #4 AGGELOS THE GREAT gets his working papers this afternoon, and does such with a pair of decent morning moves, to go along with a fat Tomlinson of 408. Runner is a half to multiple stakes winner Pauseforthecause, who went 14:7-2-2 over a glib surface banking more than $443,000.

                          Race 2
                          1.Comedy Town
                          2.Into the Sunrise
                          3.Souper Success
#4 COMEDY TOWN has been in the rear with the gear in both starts this annum, but we dig that he placed in his two outings on the Mellon last year, and has accomplished the same in both "3rd off the bench" deals ( with one of those races overlapping ). But what we're really enamored with, is the fact that Miceli is a perfect 4 of 4 with sod sprinters off breaks of 43-90 days ridden by this jock, and the winners for that survey came back a solid $16, $30, $10 & $8. #7 INTO THE SUNRISE has been kept in jail since the June 15th purchase, and is brought back at the same level for today's 3rd off the bench deal. That last part is relevant, as he has had a win and a second from as many starts off of that type of L/O scenario, and could rebound off the fade. #6 SOUPER SUCCESS rounds out the top three. OFF TURF: 5-4-6-7-2

                          Race 3
                          1.Wonder Girl
                          2.St. Bendedict's Prep
                          3.Volatility
#7 WONDER GIRL was justifiable DQ'd from first when last in action on the 3rd of July, and as many thought the suspension was a mite too severe for Torres, it's good to see Klesaris give the kid a chance to make amends. According to DRF Formulator, the aforementioned bossman is a groovy 5-8 with those going long on the long off absences of 8-28 days ( 10-1 or undah ), with mutuels of $8 x 2, $9, $11 & $14. #1 ST. BENEDICT'S PREP ( located in Joyzee ) bested more than half the field when going over the green stuff for the first time two starts back, & is eligible to improve in being made available for purchase for the first time. #6 VOLATILITY has showed in both starts since getting the tag attached to his rump, and who are we to rock that boat ? OFF TURF: 8-5-9-2-6

                          Race 4
                          1.I'm Buzzy
                          2.Quick Munny
                          3.My Sweet Wife
#7 I'M BUZZY went from zero to hero when getting up in time vs. slightly softer competition, and given the running style shown ( along with a one for one ledger at such ), today's added 1/16th should be quite welcome. #9 QUICK MUNNY owns a boatload of zip, but also has a propensity for losing ground in the lane. Mare is dropped a dime after being out of jail for five days after being snagged out of The Pea Patch, and to returnees from that deal came back to win & finish 3rd in two separate heats -- both improving in the Beyer department. #1 MY SWEET WIFE is one for two here, one for two when breaking from the pine, and scored in her lone dirt try with Javy in the irons. As NONE of those stats overlap, we have a cumulative 3 for 5 record in some fairly relevant categories. NOTE: AS OF 11:38, DUE TO A LATE SCRATCH THE #2 WILL BE OUR 3RD SELECTION.

                          Race 5
                          1.Beta
                          2.Jackson Heights
                          3.Colloquy
#5 BETA shoots for the hat trick today, and if you eliminate the "off the L/O" tries, this one has won four in a row. Finger Lakes pilot comes along for the ride ( which is encouraging to see ), and we like this one's ability to send or rate a bit. #4 JACKSON HEIGHTS has gotten walloped in his last threesome, and is now smartly dropped down to allowance company, Gelding fared well in his lone ( 13-1 ) start over this oval, and is showing a bullet for today's second start off the bench; stock goes up if the front wraps come off. #7 COLLOQUY has hit the super in six of his last seven and should be in the thick of things once again.

                          Race 6
                          1.Faraday
                          2.Smart Uncle
                          3.Toofareastiswest
#9 FARADAY showed little when starting things out last fall, but that race proved to be a key event, as all nine comebackers rung up a 9:3-1-2 record when seen in their eight different next events, and three year old has only had one break in the worktab since mid March in preparation for the comebacker. Brown charge gets an "Around the World" treatment today: Blinkers, Lasix, and has recently lost his procreating abilities, and there's a nice trainer stat in play. Over the last five years, barn is 6:4-1-0 with male 2nd time starters/2nd time routers on the turf getting the wonder drug for the first time at this level @ 16-1 or beneath ( $2.67 R.O.I. ). #2 SMART UNCLE gave a solid account of himself when splitting the field in an Arcadian stakes last month, and is reacquainted with the "Big L" as he's back in with maidens today. #10 TOOFAREASTISWEST has the hood added after three placings to begin his career, and gets a jock upgrade in this spot. OFF TURF: 6-5-1-2-4 BEATABE FAVORITE: #3 SACRED RHYME doesn't make our first cut, so why would we take 3-1 ?

                          Race 7
                          1.Burn Jakey Burn
                          2.Courageoous Oh La
                          3.City Mischief
#9 BURN JAKEY BURN returned off of nearly a full calendar absence to make every call a winning one when going over the verde for the first time in Elmont, and the bloodlines tell us there may be come room for improvement. Brown ( the other one ) more than quadruples his normative 10% batting avg. when it comes to his sod sprinters who won < a month back & are 18-1 or less, as he's 3 of 7 w/ that sort. #1 COURAGEOOUS OH LA has been beset by back to back L/O lines, but is one of two off a respite ( while breaking from the inside ), and although that came on the main, the turf form ain't terrible. #7 CITY MISCHIEF lost by only a neck in his sole Turf/Poly try off a sabbatical, and is 2:1-0-1 at the trip; Irad gets the call. OFF TURF: 8-1-12(MTO)-13(MTO)-5

                          Race 8
                          1.Joking Way
                          2.Street Swagg
                          3.Prove Right
#8 JOKING WAY ( like an earlier Rice runner ) has been neatly kept in prison since being bough for half'a hunsky in Kentucky on June 15th, and given the winner from that day got the job done when next seen, who's to say this one can't do the same -- especially off that 47 flat move ten days back. #7 STREET SWAGG is another one coming in off an Ellis Park claim ( Jeez, do they have any horse left there ? ), and being he's dropping 25 large today, would need a win to show a profit off that last transaction -- should another claim ensue. #9 PROVE RIGHT is up for grabs for the first time, and you should know that he's won his last duet outside of stakes company. NOTE: AS OF 11:27 A.M., DUE TO A LATE SCRATCH THE #3 WILL BE OUR 3RD SELECTION.

                          Race 9
                          1.Fredo
                          2.Lucky Lucky Luke
                          3.Aruba
These three and no more for all our rolling action, #3 FREDO hasn't gotten much respect at the windows over his last quartet, but we won't pass over this one, given the adjusted 86.3 the last time he went from one turn to two. Should be no worse than 3rd for all you show grinders. #7 LUCKY LUCKY LUKE didn't accomplish much in the lone sod start, but the bloodlines tell us to be a bit forgiving, especially as he's still kept above the claim price, despite the recent debacle. #1 ARUBA has shown little since the maiden breaker, and lightly raced 6YO now has a "For Sale" sticker attached to his tush for the first time.. At least Jose sticks around, right ? OFF TURF: 10-2-8-11(MTO)-9 BEATABLE FAVORITE: #8 HARRY HOOD

                          Race 10
                          1.New York Thunder
                          2.Drew's Gold
                          3.Gilmore
This triad should do the trick for all your rolling action. #6 NEW YORK THUNDER has gone all the way on all three heats, over three different ovals, with two different pilots, with Lasix or without, and draws ideally for today's first tango in graded company. Hard to knock. #1 DREW'S GOLD lunged at the start in the G1 Woody Stephens, but recovered splendidly to finish 2nd that day, and switches from Gomez to J. Ortiz now. Just may sit a nice pocket trip. #4 GILMORE has yet to miss the money in any dirt start to date, and we see no reason to exclude.

                          Race 11
                          1.Timo
                          2.Fast Boat to Skye
                          3.Fire Baron
#1 TIMO has been away since early in the year, but brown boy takes the biggest drop in the biz here, and shedrow has a 7:4-2-0-1 record when doing such to those going long on the lawn off sabbaticals of 100 days or more ( $7, $14 7 $3 x 2 ). #2 FAST BOAT TO SKYE ( a solid place wager ) is another plunging, but has an assemblage of BSF's on the lawn that pretty much lay over most signed on. Honk if you like Donk when Johnny rides, as they've fared better together than apart over the last two years. #12 FIRE BARON has earned six straight checks for the connections and may grind out a share.
