    triple-dime bet 914 ANA (-150) Sportbet vs 913 SEA
Analysis: I'm playing on the LA ANGELS. Having limped into the All Star Break, the Angels badly need to start the second half with a victory. I think this matchup presents the perfect opportunity.

Manager Mike Scioscia has elected to go with Joel Pineiro. Given Pineiro's recent performance, that's probably a wise move. Indeed, Pineiro is 6-1 his last nine starts, going a least six innings in all nine of those starts.

Over his last six starts, Pineiro has allowed nine runs in 44 1/3 innings. That translates to a 1.83 ERA. He allowed three earned runs or less in all six of those starts, including one or less in four of them.

For the season, Pineiro is 6-2 with a stellar 2.22 ERA in 10 home starts, averaging 6.9 innings in those starts. Opposing batters are hitting .309 against him on the road but just .230 at home.

Given his opponent's recent form, Pineiro should receive some run support here. Fister is off a quality start. However, that was at home, vs. KC.

Prior to that, he'd recorded an ugly 7.71 ERA in his previous three starts. For the season, Fister is 1-2 with a 4.91 ERA and 1.558 WHIP in five road starts. He's averaged just 5.1 innings in those starts, most recently a 7-1 loss at Detroit.

The Mariners are a money-burning 60-82 (-26.5) against divisional opponents the past few seasons, including a dismal 7-21 mark this season. The Angels are a respectable 16-11 (+4) against divisional opponents this season, going 82-59 the past few. Not surprisingly, the Angels are 7-2 the last nine meetings in the series (5-0 L5) and 31-16 (+12.7) the last 47. Badly needing a victory, I expect them to continue that dominance here. *10

      triple-dime bet 905 LOS (+110) BetUS vs 906 STL
Analysis: Play On: L.A. Dodgers w/Kershaw vs Carpenter (Game 905)
Note: When the Dodgers open a four-game series with the Cardinals in St. Louis this evening they will send Clayton Kershaw to the hill against Chris Carpenter. Kershaw enters the game in terrific KW form with two walks and 25 strikeouts in his last three starts. He's also 4-2 with a 2.37 ERA in his career team starts in this series and 8-3 with a 1.86 ERA in his career team starts during July. On the flip side, Carpenter is in rocky current form at 0-2 with an 11.00 ERA in his last two starts. He's also 0-2 in his last two team starts against Los Angeles. With that, look for L.A. to improve to 7-0 in its last seven games in this series here tonight. We recommend a 3-unit play on the Dodgers.

Re: 7-15-10-GC Free play for Thursday

On Thursday the free play is to go over the total in the Texas at Boston game. Rotation numbers 909/910 at 7:10 eastern. This game fits a nice system that plays the over for certain road teams off a home favored loss at -200 or higher, if they scored 2 or less runs and their opponent scored 4 or less on the road. Boston has gone over the total in 7 of 10 home games in this line range. Tim Wakefield is starting for Boston and he has a poor 6.18 home era this season. Tommy Hunter makes the start for a Texas tonight. In his lone start here in Boston he was shelled for 9 runs in less than 2 innings of work. Wakefield has also struggled vs Texas allowing 18 runs in 14+ innings vs Texas in his last 3 starts against them. Look for this one to go over. For those looking for that one big Power move. Consider the 5* AL Total of the Month armed with a 94% Power system that beats the line by over 3.5 runs per game. MLB Has been hot cashing 12 of 15 before the break. Tonight we pick up where we left off. For the free play take the over in the Texas at Boston game. GC

dime bet 912 MIN (-115) BetUS vs 911 CWS
          Analysis:

          Minnesota -115

Why do the Twins open up as a favorite here when they finished 1-4 their last 5 and the White Sox were on fire at 5-0 to end the first of the season? A sucker bet big time tonight in my opinion, call it a trap game. I have always gone against hot team after a long break, and will fade Danks for the WS in this one as well as opponents are hitting .333 against him on the road as opposed to just .250 at home. The Twins at home after a slide to end the first half will be motivated to get out of the gate with this one big time against a division rival. The Twins are 6-3 at home with Slowly on the mound for them, a great spot and trick line by oddsmakers, I am all over it.

Play 1 Unit on Minnesota. Bonus Play – Texas -105 for a half unit. 9-2 their last 11 on the road and right now a better team.

                        SPORTS WAGERS

Los Angeles +1.12 over ST. LOUIS

Give me Clayton Kershaw plus a tag against the most overrated team in baseball and we’ll play it every time. Chris Carpenter is having another solid year but let’s not forget that this guy has been injured for most of his career and prior to this year he appeared in just 33 games over three years. Carpenter has been shaky in three of his last five starts with only good starts over that stretch coming against the Jays and D-Backs. The A’s got to him for 10 hits in seven frames a few starts ago and both Colorado and Milwaukee ripped him apart in his last two games. Carpenter’s ERA over his last three starts is 7.88. Meanwhile, Clayton Kershaw is one of the best lefties in the game. The only thing that prevents him from being the best is a lack of control. When he doesn’t walk folks he does not lose and the good news is that he has walked only two batters over his last three starts covering 20.2 innings. Kershaw has outstanding numbers right across the board that includes a BAA of .229, a road ERA of 2.61 and 128 K’s in just 112 frames. Lastly, the Cards have won just seven of its last 17 games and every win was against teams way under .500 (Houston twice, Milwaukee twice, Arizona twice, Kansas City once). Play: Los Angeles +1.12 (Risking 2 units).

                        Chicago +1.07 over MINNESOTA

Hard to ignore the White Sox taking back a tag. The South Side enters this series as baseball's hottest team with an eight-game winning streak and having won 25 of 30 games dating to June 9, out-scoring opponents 156-77 during that span. While Chicago’s offense has improved considerably after a slow start, the pitching has been dominant during the team's surge and John Danks is no exception. In a recent start in Texas, Danks allowed four hits in six innings and followed that up with a complete game, two-hit shutout against the Angels. Only once in his last six starts did he allow more than three runs and that came at Wrigley with the wind blowing out. On the year, Danks has a BAA 0f .219 and his HR/9 is one of the best in the game at 0.56. Kevin Slowey has been much, much better at home but he’s without question the second best starter in this matchup. His BAA on the year is about 80 points higher than Danks at .293. Also note that Slowey’s GB/FB ratio is one of the worst in the business at 26%/51%, a near 2-1 ratio in favor of the fly-ball. The White Sox torched him earlier in the year and now they’re seeing beach balls. Play: Chicago +1.07 (Risking 2 units).

The Boston Red Sox host the Texas Rangers tonight for the first game of their new series at 7:10 PM ET. Tonight’s matchup kicks off the second half of the MLB season. The sportsbooks have this total at a sky high 9.5 runs. We are going to fly under the number tonight. On the mound for the Rangers, Hunter has been pitching excellent with a 2.37 ERA and 1.316 WHIP in his last three starts. On the other side of tonight’s pitching matchup, Wakefield starts for the Red Sox. His pitching has been somewhat off lately with a 4.79 ERA and 1.500 WHIP in his last three starts but will turn this around tonight. Play on the UNDER

I'm playing the Cardinals on Thursday. The time off will probably serve Chris Carpenter well after a couple of tough outings. And he didn't pitch in the all-star game, being held out just in case the contest went into extra-innings. Carpenter has been simply "nasty" in the situation the Redbirds are in tonight. First of all, they're on a ridiculous 43-12 run in his last 55 home starts. Secondly, the Cards are on a 20-7 run in the Dodgers' last 27 visits to St. Louis. And best of all, Carpenter has never lost to the Dodgers, and sports a red-hot, 1.88 ERA and 1.02 WHIP along the way. Clayton Kershaw is putting up nice numbers, but I believe he's met his match in this one. I'm playing the Cardinals on Thursday night.

                              SEAN MURPHY COMP

New York Mets @ San Francisco Giants
                              PICK: San Francisco Giants

The Mets took two of three games from the Giants at Citi Field back in May, but I think we'll see a different story begin to unfold when the two open a four-game series at AT&T Park on Thursday night.

New York entered the All-Star break in terrible form, losers of eight of their last 13 games. The Mets haven't won a series since taking two of three from the Twins from June 25th to 27th.

The Giants, on the other hand, have won six of their last seven games, all coming on the road, and now get to return to San Francisco, where they've been a much stronger team this season.

Carlos Beltran is expected to be in the Mets lineup for the first time this season on Thursday. Don't expect too much from the Mets slugger in his first game back following a lengthy layoff. Jose Reyes remains questionable with a strained oblique.

New York will hand the ball to R.A. Dickey. He was roughed up in his last start, allowing nine hits and three earned runs, including two home runs, over 6 2/3 innings of work against the Braves. Perhaps that poor outing should come as no surprise as he's a career 2-7 with a 4.97 ERA and 1.66 WHIP in the month of July.

Dickey went a perfect 6-0 from May 25th to June 23rd, but the Mets have lost each of his last three starts since. The current Giants roster is hitting .250 and slugging .313 against him, but keep in mind, no player has seen him more than five times.

The Giants will counter with their ace, Tim Lincecum. He's had an up and down year to be sure, but I'm confident that his best days are ahead of him. He delivered a fine effort in his final start before the break, allowing only four hits and one earned run while striking out 10 and walking two against the Brewers.

While R.A. Dickey has really struggled in July, Lincecum has been lights out, a career 10-4 with a 2.68 ERA and 1.12 WHIP while holding opponents to a .218 average.

The current Mets roster is hitting .233 and slugging .283 against Lincecum. They've went to bat 60 times against him, and have just one extra-base hit to their credit (a home run by Jeff Francoeur).

This is a statement game for the Giants, as they look to come out swinging following the break, and make it known that they're not going to fade out of contention. The Mets are having a tough time getting out of their own way right now, and while Carlos Beltran's return gives them a boost, I'm not sure that it will be enough. Take San Francisco.
