The Red Sox took the first meeting last night 8-6 beating Scott Baker who had been pitching solid at home. Look for Boston to come out with another victory tonight, as the keep their focus on their pennant race with their rival Yankees. Boston Erik Bedard on the mound, who will be making his second start since being traded to the Red sox from Seattle. Bedard got the no decision when he pitched 5 innings, giving up 3 earned runs in his Red Sox debut. On the season Bedard is 4-7, but has better numbers than the record indicates. He has a 3.55 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and .232 opponents batting average. Take note that back on May 25th Bedard pitched 6 shutout innings against the Twins while playing for Seattle. Francisco Liriano is on the mound for the Twins, and enters tonight’s game with a 7-9 record, 5.03 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and .247 opponents batting average. Liriano gave up 10 hits and 7 earned runs over 5 innings of work in Los Angeles on Thursday. A bounce back start won’t be easy against the Red Sox for Fransisco. He is 1-3 with a 7.78 ERA lifetime against Boston. Note that the Red Sox are 41-17 in their last 58 overall, 28-10 in their last 38 road games, and 22-5 in their last 27 games vs a left handed starter. Anytime the Red Sox have an edge in the pitching match up and are listed at -127 it is worth a look, and after looking into it further I think we have some solid value here against the Twins tonight. The Minnesota Lynx have proven to be the class of the WNBA this season, and they enter this one with a 16-4 mark on the season. Phoenix has played poorly of late, but has the talent here to pull off the upset. After beating the Lynx in Minnesota, Phoenix has suffered two straight losses against them. The Mercury have a high ceiling, especially with the league’s top player in Diana Turasi, and have been flying high on one day of rest where they are 7-1 ATS. The Lynx have often found the going tough in Phoenix where they have been grounded, winning just two of the last seven meetings here. Play on Phoenix in this one.Comment

Rockies’ young righthander Esmil Rogers has a high WHIP of 1.74, a 6.35 ERA, and hasn’t lasted longer than 5 2/3 innings since April 7, which was eight starts, one removal from the rotation and one trip to the Disable List ago. After Rogers, the Rockies’ manager Jim Tracy has a bullpen choice consisting of fellows who have a combined ERA of 4.23, second-highest in the National League, with a Batting Average Against of .271, which is highest in MLB. Meanwhile, Reds’ veteran lefty Dontrelle Willis has made five starts since his late 2011 debut and has a decent 3.41 ERA. But how long can the magic dust last? The Rockies who have faced Willis are hitting a collective .346 against him in 81 at-bats, with 17 walks and only 14 strikeouts.

The Cardinals are playing well at the moment (7-4, +$125 in their past 11, averaging 5.7 runs per game on offense). They've posted a modest profit in night games (+$285) and they desperately need to keep Milwaukee from adding to their lead in the NL Central.
