The plurality voting method we have essentially forces a two party system, since third party candidates have the effect of drawing votes away from one of the major parties, like the Nader situation in 2000.

Agreed. I find myself agreeing with alot of what Ron Paul believes. He has some crazy shit too, but most of his ideas and beliefs are on par with mine. He will never win though. This party system is stupid and mainly serves as a way to fund campaigns and organize political shit. Democrats and Republicans would never agree to abolish the system because it benefits both of them.

I'd be in favor of getting rid of parties all together. Let every individual run on their own platform. No "conservatives" or "liberals." No more boxes.

Just let guys say "this is what I stand for" and talk about their shit. Then vote for who you like the best.

They do, but it's those citizens who buy into the whole thing that give it any power.

Obviously I mean isn't it the point of people running as a non-Republicrat to get people to vote non-Republicrat. In my opinion, the fact that enough people voted for Nader to have that kind of impact is sort of victory.

My dad has libertarian sympathies, but he says voting that way "is throwing your vote away." So even though he really would prefer to have a libertarian president he continues to vote Republican because it's the only way, in his mind, to make his vote count. As long as people keep thinking that way then nothing will change even though it seems that a lot of people want it to.

No, saw Looper a couple days ago though. It was ok. Noting special IMO. I don't think I am ever going to be drawn in by time travel movies anymore. It would have to be something completely different at this point. I was distracted by JGL's makeup too... kept trying to find his face in there.
