X, I am thinking about taking a filmmaking class at the local University. Worth it? or can I learn it all on my own? I know nothing.2012: +19.33

Why do you want to take a film class?I heart cockComment

If you were sufficiently motivated and had the funds to acquire the necessary equipment, you could teach yourself with a couple of books and Internet resources. But I've found it pretty important to have teachers who a) are available to answer questions and guide me, and b) who will assign projects, which forces me to actually make something instead of just think about making something.

You'll need a camera ($700+), an editing program ($700+ unless you're going to pirate it or use some piece of shit), and if you want to get legit sound you'll need a good microphone and possibly a boom pole (not sure how much that will run you since I've never bought one). You'll also need a tripod, though you can get something functional at Walmart for like $50.
And maybe I should rephrase my question: Why do you want to make films? You've never expressed an interest before. You don't even seem that into watching movies.I heart cockComment

Hmm, indeed. Well that's cool.
Well the main things you'll need to be able to do are get good images (so you need a good camera), good sound (so you need a good mic + stand) and you need to be able to edit your shit together (if you're just doing small projects you could probably get away with something like Premiere Elements, which I think is only around $100).I heart cockComment

Cheap means the least expensive thing I can get quality. There is usually like a base "quality" model in most industries... like for cycling, I know that you really can't get a decent road bike for less than $800... but you can get a department store bike for $150. So if someone were to ask me what a cheap road bike is, I would say $800 or $900. You can get a good quality bjj for $110, though some really shitty ones are out there for half of that. You know what the price of entry is, don't hoard your info. I want a "good camera" that I won't outgrow or break within 2 years.2012: +19.33

I think I could be a good porn director. I have told you guys before that I really don't like porn, and that is true. But if someone could make something that was better than a shaved dick and balls close up pounding away while some lady screams absurdly, I would watch the hell out of that.2012: +19.33
