    Re: UFC 117

    I am leaning Guida now.

Went back and looked at his fights. Only Florian really beat him down. He won against Tyson IMO. He was beating Huerta soundly until Huerta summonsed his mexican fighting spirit. He could have been given rounds 2 and 3 against Diego.

Dos Anjos is on the same level though. I think it will be competitive. Bit Dos Anjos was unable to finish Emerson or Bradley, 2 strikers.

Guida's submission defense does give me a little pause. But Dos Anjos's subs come from top position. I think this comes down to whether Dos Anjos can outwrestle Guida. I think Guida will just stick to him and eventually end up on top. @ -115 for both, I think there is a slight advantage for Guida because of his wrestling. I doubt Dos Anjos can stuff him, although he does like to scramble off the shot...

Not ready to pull the trigger yet, but definitely not betting Dos Anjos

I like Guida as well. I envision a Griffin/Dos Anjos kind of matchup.

I am really on the fence with this one.

Guida's cool and, while not elite, is a top level gatekeeper. His striking kind of sucks, though, and I expect Dos Anjos to outstrike him. The real question is can Dos Anjos keep from getting Guida'd by utilizing his own grappling skills to keep Guida at a comfortable range.

I don't think he will be able to stop the takedowns... but he can probably create some scrables in the early going. He actually had Tyson in a lot of trouble in the first round with that calf slicer. I think Guida has a mor stifling style on top though, whereas Griffin is more of a scrambler. Guida just keeps pulling the legs out until you give up and work guard.

I think DA will have striking advantage as well, but he does not have lights out power.

Man, looking at this 117 card, there's a big part of me that's tempted to just go down the line and bet Sonnen, Fitch, Guida, Hughes, Davis...

I predict we don't get to watch many undercard fights.

The card is all wrestlers. Hendricks, Davis, Hughes, Guida, Sonnen, Fitch, Story, Hallman...

There is a wrestler in every fight. Probably going to be a lot of decisions, and a lot of them are dogs, which I would think would be exciting for you, since you like to bet wrestlers.

Anyone else kinda like Hallman as the dog here? Besides the Davis murder, has Ben really done anything to justify him being this big a fave against a fighter like Hallman?

                  I think Hallman is live.

I think Hallman will have wrestling and grappling advantages... and aside from the MY clinch, Saunders is really not that dangerous a striker. I keep going back to the Howard fight. Hallman was getting takedowns and was at least breaking even in the striking exchanges, until the miracle shot. I agree that Saunders is overrated atm.

Speaking of Hughes beating Almeida in ADCC in 2000, Hallman submitted Hughes in 2000.

For the second time. He also submitted Hughes in 98. Once in 17 seconds, the other in 21.

Saunders is a Brown belt in Bjj which off the top of my head is higher than Hallmans belt but belts are seemingly subjective. Hallman submits the shit out of people and is way more experienced. I don't know. Saunders is so big and lanky i can't imagine him not getting taken down. 6'3'' and fighting at 170. Hallman has 33 wins by submission.
