I might would've just dropped that entire 1.5u on Fitch by Decision. I really can't imagine him knocking Thiago out or submitting him. I can't really imagine him doing that anybody, actually.

So how did Alves lose to Fitch the first time?

That was a while back and a little flukey, as all upkick KOs are. I'm just saying that I think it's unlikely that, if Fitch wins, it's by anything other than decision. Do you disagree?

                  Re: UFC 117

By the way, Jon Fitch is so fucking boring that he doesn't even get a nickname. I think it's an "if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" kind of situation. People just don't know what to call him without either lying or insulting him.

They should just bite the bullet and go with Jon "Mr. Decision" Fitch, because he'll never have a style that will demand an exciting nickname. Dude hasn't finished a fight in over three years.

Alves is going to get cut on top of his head from his brain surgery scar.

Ok, I think Fitch is going to win by decision, I was giving you a hard time.

BUT, prop bets have a tendency of screwing me over:

I bet on Wiman/Danzig going the distance, a bad ref call fucked that up.

I bet on Condit/Macdonald going the distance, 9 seconds left in the fight and it was stopped.

I bet on Shogun getting quickest (T)KO of the night @ like +2500 or something crazy, and he had the only real (T)KO of the night... I lost because Jason Macdonald's leg fell off right away in the first round.

I don't like his style either. I would like to argue that he has been fighting teh best guys... but he should have been able to finish Pierce, Saunders, and Wilson... those guys are low enough on the ladder, that the number 2 WW in the world should beat them pretty easily. He doesn't so much try to win fights as he does just be on top and wait for the bell.

That said, the level of excitment you bring has no correlation to how exciting you are as a fighter. Gegard Mousasi has no nickname. Matt Hughes used to be pretty exciting, he never had a nickname. Fedor doesn't really have a nickname (the last emperor thing never really stuck thank god). Yet Gray Maynard has a nickname. I find him less exciting than Fitch.

Although there does seem to be a correlation. Randy Couture and Joe Warren are probably the 2 most boring fighters on the planet and they also lack nicknames. Rashad did not gayly dub himself "sugar" until after he dropped his wrestling centric style. Chael Sonnen also does not have a nickname and he also doesn't try to finish fights.

On second thought, I think you are on to something.

Ok, cut behind the ear or spontaneous aneurysm.

Alves will have been out 18 months, had minor brain surgery, Fitch has only lost to GSP since 2002, and even GSP couldn't put him away. And Fitch already beat him, though it was a while ago.

Alves might win, but I think the smart money is on Fitch.

I dont really have a problem with Fitches style. If I was a fighter, i dont really give a shit how I win, as long as I win.
