Redbelt actually pissed me off, because I was expecting more from Mamet. The plot was dumb, and I thought it was actually insulting to fight fans, bettors, and athletic commissions. Who would be dumb enough to bet on a fight where your guy might have to wear a blindfold? And obviously no state commission would sanction it.

Fight fans were portrayed as bloodthirsty types who just want to see some crazy violence, as if they wouldn't be outraged to see one guy tied up before a fight that they paid to see?

I was also annoyed at the attempt to pass off how the fixing of the outcome was done. (So what if the guy can slight-of-hand swap two marbles that are in his hand? That doesn't explain anything about how he could fix the outcome of a draw where two other guys are reaching into a bowl.)
