No I didn't see that one.

You are never a fan like you were when you were a kid. Stuff you loved as a kid, you love forever. Mike Scioscia is my all time favorite athlete. I grew up in socal, I loved the Dodgers, I was a catcher... I used to love Mike Scioscia. I moved to Indiana the same year they won the world series and that made me even more committed. I remember the celebration they had for him when he retired, and they played "Like a Rock" at the game and did a photo montage.

War fat catcher who bats 7th but is consistent and hard working.[/quote]

Yeah, it was good for an HBO movie, and Urkel was a really good likeness to Tyson.

I just think the human interest and tradgedy of tyson is a lot more interesting than his actual boxing career and time in the spotlight.

he fell on some really hard times there for a while and was really fuckin crazy. BUt now he seems pretty chill.

The ear biting, face tatoo, broke Tyson is a huge part of that story. It will make a great movie when he dies (probably in liek 5 years because he looks like he has AIDS)

        Well said.

My heart would race right before the bell would ring for a Tyson fight. To this day, have never felt like that watching any sporting event.

          It was a great doc.

I think what impressed me the most was how much genuine love he still has for Cus. It's obvious that even to this day he still misses him.

I wonder how his career and life would have gone if Cus had held on just a few more years.

                    Re: Off topic thread(basketball,movies,etc whatever)

                    "Tyson" (the documentary) trivia:

In an April 2009 Q&A at a Century City, CA screening for the film, director James Toback recalled Tyson's reaction at the first screening. Tyson initially sat in silence for several minutes, then remarked: "it's like a Greek tragedy, only I'm the subject".

James Toback, who had known Mike Tyson since Tyson was 19, financed the film with his own funds and shot thirty hours of footage in the process.

Director James Toback wanted to get Tyson talking while he was completing rehab, as he felt Tyson would be more clear-headed and willing to speak about some of his life's darker moments. Furthermore, Toback and Tyson had the understanding that no topic would be off limits, nor would Tyson have any say over what footage made the final cut.

"Tyson" received only one distribution offer during its run on the festival circuit, from Sony Classics Pictures. After Toback accepted the offer, the film screened at the Cannes Film Festival and received a 10 minute standing ovation. Many of the executives who initially passed on the film were at that screening.

To gage what effect "Tyson" would have on audiences, James Toback asked the opinions of the film's opposite demographic: older white women who were disinterested in boxing. He asked that they come to his editing suite and watch the film. If they left after 5 minutes, Toback would give them $100 USD. If they stayed after 5 minutes, they would have to stay for the whole picture - and give Toback extensive feedback on the film. According to Toback, not one woman left after 5 minutes, and many were in tears by the film's finale.

Awesome fucking movie. It's less of a documentary and more of a low budget shot movie based on a true environment with "names and likenesses have been changed to protect" blah blah blah. But it's a great flick.

City of God ain't a documentary. It's a fucking badass movie though. And it's all in Portuguese so you can masturbate the entire running time.

Yeah, see it. It's really good.

I also liked the "Tyson" documentary. Although I have a different reaction to it than a lot of people. He strikes me as an interesting subject, but not one that I have any sympathy for.

I only have sympathy for Tyson because I think he has borderline intellectual functioning. No joke, I do a lot of work with mentally handicapped people, and I seriously think he is mildly mentally retarded.

There's nothing wrong with Tyson's intelligence. Many top boxing analysts say Tyson knows more about boxing and the history of boxing than any man alive .

The reason he acts the way he does is because he never had any parents to teach him how to act. I've worked with alot of troubled youth and most of them that never had any parents act the sameway.
