Re: UFC 121 Lesnar vs Velasquez

My top 10 would go something like

    1. Cain
    2 Werdum
    3. Fedor
    4. JDS
    5. Brock
    6. Carwin
    7. Overeem
    8. Mir
    9. Big Foot
    10. Nog

Having Werdum over JDS is also pretty weird, but it is what it is.

Cain has to be #1, every thing after that is debateable. Rankings mix perceived ability with actual accomplishments, with timeliness... it is not a real science. All that matters to me is my own subjective power rankings, which is all about perceived ability. I have Cormier in the top 10. I like Werdum, but he would get his shit packed by Carwin, Cain, and JDS (I do think he would beat Brock though, and I think he would humilate Mir).

Re: UFC 121 Lesnar vs Velasquez

Its so hard to say. I don't think the Last emperor would handle Brock though. Have to disagree with you there. His wrestling has always been his weakness. Brock would have him down in 30 seconds or less. From there he def does not have the strength/wrestling to stand up quick. He could def land a sub but he would be at such a HUGE strength disadvantage I doubt he would. It would look exactly like Mir-Brock IMO. Remember Fedor weighs about 230 while carrying fat. Brock is a 270 pound muscle/takedown machine. You aren't stopping his takedowns without wrestling.

                Brock by tko.

Re: UFC 121 Lesnar vs Velasquez

^ well, we are never going to see it... but Fedor's hands have improved a lot. He has already beaten more accomplished wrestlers than Brock and big guys too (though not necessarily a big huge wrestler), so I see no reason why he wouldn't just escape to his feet or create a scramble and then blast him. Fedor just has way more tools in his aresenal and I think he would KO him. He also seems to have a good idea of what he needs to do to win, I doubt he would play guard with Brock, which is why he was able to so fully control Mir (Mir for some reason even went to half guard, which is just assinine).

Re: UFC 121 Lesnar vs Velasquez

My biggest concern in a Fedor/Brock fight would be Fedor getting trapped against the cage. Rogers had him pinned for a minute and if Rogers can do it then Brock could do it a lot better.

But as long as Fedor could get back up, the striking would be all him.

Yeah, not really worth arguing too deeply about. Brock #2 is just bad though.

BTW, sucks for Cote. That's 3 losses in a row though, and if he's getting absolutely dominated and manhandled by Tom Lawlor, he doesn't really belong in the UFC. Lawlor isn't exactly a dominant grappler.

Re: UFC 121 Lesnar vs Velasquez

Despite his main-event defeat and losing his heavyweight title to Cain Velasquez, Brock Lesnar was the top earner at this past weekend's UFC 121 event and earned $400,000 of the night's $1.513 million disclosed payroll.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) recently requested and today received the list of salaries from the California State Athletic Commission.

Tito Ortiz ($250,000), Velasquez ($200,000) and co-main-event winner Jake Shields ($150,000) were other top earners from the card, which took place Oct. 23 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

The full list of UFC 121 payouts included:

Cain Velasquez: $200,000 (includes $100,000 win bonus)
                            def. Brock Lesnar: $400,000

Jake Shields: $150,000 ($75,000 win bonus)
                            def. Martin Kampmann: $27,000

Of course Tito got paid more than Cain. Chuck did as well when he fought. Every night these guys pulled in 250k because of what they did for the company once upon a time. Same with Couture and Hughes.
