It really is easy to just blindly look at the CroCop fight and come to the conclusion that barry's wrestling sucks. Zak, things happen in fights that have effects on the outcomes. if you just look at fights on paper, you are making a mistake.

I'm not just looking at the CroCop fight. Im looking at the body of work that he has over his time in the UFC. I'm not even betting the fight, but your acting like its offensive to think Beltran can take Barry down.

Actually we kind of established that Barry was not taken down in the Cro Cop fight like 30 minutes ago, but ended up there by a slip in round 2 and was dropped in round 3.

Yeah, that's around where I will bet him as well. I think it's one of the best bets on the card imo, the only thing that has me worried is that EVERYBODY on other forums is saying Guillard is going to win. But then again, other forums are full of idiots.

I almost bet him before, but I wanted better than -233 and lately I've tried to be more disciplined about only betting when I think the line holds value. Like I said before, breaking that rule has cost me a lot of money lately.

I think Dunham SHOULD be better everywhere except, perhaps, in terms of technical boxing. But I think--am hoping--that he won't let this become a kickboxing match and will just go in, sub Guillard, and get it over with.

I personally am VERY confident that Beltran will not hold down Barry for more than a split second. I will be surprised if they clinch, if Beltran does not end up on his ass. Barry is gonna showcase how strong a wrestler he has become, if Beltran even attempts to clinch.

People will be amazed at his improvement after this fight. Some will probably think it was just luck.

but yeah, I just looked back and didn't see anybody flat out say "LOL PAT BARRY'S WRESTLING SUCKS!!!!11!!" , it was more like "Beltran could take Barry down". Beltran took Mitrione down in round 1 of their fight and kept him there as well...this is what makes me think Beltran has a shot at dictating where the fight takes place. But I am with Zak, I hope Barry smashes Beltran.

Not mad at all. Do not like one over the other. Just have it on good word that Barry has improved his offensive and defensive wrestling substantially. Just trying to help out the guys that looked real close to betting beltran.

Must concede though. I never thought Barry's wrestling was all that bad...just though he made a stupid mistake in the hague fight. To be completely honest, that is the only time his DEFENSIVE grappling has looked bad. i discount the crocop fight entirely because I just do not expect a guy with a badly broken hand and broken foot to win a fight.

Beltran has always seemed cool in the interviews I've seen, and I kind of like him playing the role of spoiler and defying the odds.

Barry's cool too, and I don't think this fight will = cut, so I have to hope he gets . . . Mexicuted!

FTR, no one said Beltran would win. In fact, in my post I said I thought he would lose, but had value. I am glad your blind faith that Barry's wrestling is going to be shockingly good gives you confidence, but let's not act like it is anything more than a guess (win or lose). The fact is that this fight hinges on Beltran's ability to drag Barry into the deep waters and take him down some. Maybe he can, maybe he can't. I happen to think he can't and that Barry will win, probably quickly and impressively. But if he loses, I will not even be close to being suprised.

We disagree, as we often do on these things... but you are trying to frame it as though I said Beltran is going to throw him down and submit him, which I didn't. I just said I don't bet favorites with huge holes (where the other guy has the means to exploit it), and that I think Beltran is more likely to win than the line indicates.

BTW, Barry is 31, not exactly a 21 year old still growing into his physique. It is hard to get good at wrestling. It is like me saying, hey I heard Beltran has been training kickboxing, he is going to shock you with his kicks. It takes a minute to get good. Though Barry doesn't have to get great, because Beltran sucks.

No way, in no way did I frame it like that, and you know it. As for my blind faith...far from it. I have what you would consider an inside source that would not lead me astray here. You bet him Scientist(Beltran). I tried to warn you and everyone else. Maybe you could lump Beltran into a couple of -5000 faves to increase your potential winnings from +180 to +183.

I could give a shit if you believe me when i say i have a little info. here. I have tried before in these matters, and i usually get shot down. kinda used to it. i will eventually stop coming around, and you can continue with you dumb ass parlays and such.
