I agree that weight loss is simple. But I also eat for performance. Diet makes a big difference for me in terms of energy.

Pretty much this. I just approach it a little differently because I have to keep my muscle/strength while losing the weight.

If i wanted to, I could eat 5 or 6 of those in a day and wouldn't feel over stuffed. Different people have different metabolisms... I can eat a lot. I am 6' tall and 200 pounds, 2000 calories for me is not much.
I regularly eat at McDonald's and can tell you that a 6 pc. chicken nuggets, cheeseburger, and medium Coke only clocks in at somewhere around 700 cals. That will do me for a good 5 hours.

That doesn't work for everybody, though. You have all those obese people who are eat at calorie deficits but still either maintaining or sometimes even gaining weight. Exactly what you're eating does play a role, especially for people like that who are, for whatever reason, especially prone to storing fat.

1 lb does = 1 lb. I don't understand that statement at all. It's just harder to gain a lb of muscle than it is to gain a lb of fat, but it's easy to lose a lb of each. While on this subject...there is a woman that I work with that is always "on a diet". BUT...she works out when she diets, but her weight is always the same, or sometimes higher!! So you know what this 50 year old WOMAN thinks? She is putting pounds of muscle on in spans of weeks or a couple months. 99% of men can't even do that even with steroids.

Just looked...790 according to the official info. I have a hard time believing that though, because under the nutrition facts there are only 12 grams of fat in a cheeseburger, which makes up for 108 calories. That doesn't make sense, a slice of cheese alone has about 9g of fat, and you know mcdonalds does not use 90/10 beef. I am willing to bet that a mcdonalds cheeseburger is more than 300 calories/12g of fat. At least they were accurate with the carb content

Well to be fair a standard McDonald's cheeseburger is not all that big.

That's not a value meal. I meant if you were trying to eat a lot of calories though...

a bacon angus burger is 800 cals, a large fry is 500 cals, and 32 oz coke is 310 cals... so you are 1600 cals for just that meal, which I could easily eat. And mcDonalds is not as bad as some of the other chains. Now, I wouldn't eat that... but I could.

Like today I had a subway breakfast sandwich which was probably 400 cals. I had a handful of almonds for snack probably 200 cals. I had a salad for lunch which was probably 500 cals, maybe 600. I am eating some beef jerky right now. I will probably clock in at around 2000 cals before the day is over, and I haven't had any extras, and I am kind of hungry. If i ate some icecream or any extra meal, I would be at 2500 at least.

a mcdonalds hamburger is tiny. I could eat that as a pre-meal warm up.

I hear people say that all the time, muscle weighs more than fat. Shit trips me up.

You try to explain that muscle is more dense then fat, and they look at you like your a pedophile.

I dont see how that is possible. If you eat at a caloric deficit, you will lose weight.

the equivalent volume of muscle would weigh more than fat. If you take 1 square inch of muscle, it would wigh more than 1 square inch of fat. If we both have teh exact same measurements, but I am jelly and you are muscle, you are going to weigh more. I don't see how that is confusing.

That is a fact. But you don't know exactly how many calories you are burning. and the less you eat, over time, the less your body burns. So the effectiveness of that diminishes.

So if you try to eat 500 clas a day, you will lose a bunch of weight, but then your body will stop using so much energy and it will slow down and start eating your muscle and you will look like an ethiopian
