Arian Foster reportedly done for the season
The nightmare season for the Houston Texans continues.
Star running back Arian Foster has a back injury that will require surgery and will be out for the rest of the season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported.
Foster is expected to be placed on the Injured Reserve list Monday and will end the season with 121 carries for 542 yards and one touchdown.
The disappointing 2-6 Texans (1-7 against the spread) will have to rely even more heavily on undrafted rookie free-agent Case Keenum when they head to Phoenix to take on the Arizona Cardinals at 4:25 ET this afternoon.
"If Foster were to start today, then this line would be 3 flat in my opinion," says Peter Childs of Sportsbook.ag. "But as productive as Foster has been in recent years and even this year, it was under a totally different setting with the team being a contender. That’s not the case anymore so I just don’t see his status having much of an impact on this team."
The Cardinals opened at -3 home favorites. Early action this week moved the line to Cardinals -1, but since then odds have jumped back to -3.
