My 100 dime play is on the Cincinnati Reds and Arroyo over the Chicago Cubs and Gorzelany in a game that goes at 2:20 Eastarn at Wrigley Field. You must specify both schedulled starting pitchers in this contest; any change would result in the play being voided. As I release this selectaon at 2:30 Eastern, the Cubs are a slight -110 favorite in Las Vegas and offshore.

Maybe it's because the Cubs are playing at home and their starting pitcher, Tom Gorzelanny, has a misleading record in his last five starts, but the oddsmaker has priced this game wrong.

The Reds are a far superior team to the Cubs. It's a tremendous bargain to get Cincinnati at this price.

The Reds enter this matchup leading the NL Central Division, 13 1/2 games better than the Cubs. Cincinnati is 6-2 in its last eight games. The Cubs are 1-7 and are more dead than Jimmy Hoffa with a lame duck manager and a bunch of veterans and young players who don't mesh. The Cubs clearly have given up on the season.

Cincinnati leads the NL in runs and slugging percentage. The Reds have won seven of 10 meetings with the Cubs this season. Cincinnati has a winning road mark. The Cubs have a losing record at Wrigley Field.

Bronson Arroyo is on the hill for the Reds. He's 3-1 with a 1.89 ERA in his past five road starts. This includes a 12-0 victory at Wrigley Field on July 2 when he held the Cubs to two hits in six innings. The veteran right-hander is 4-0 with a 2.30 ERA in his last five starts verslus the Cubs. He has a 0.69 ERA in his last two starts at Wrigley Field. The Cubs are 29-41 when facing a right-handed starter. Chicago's lone victory during their past eight games came against southpaw Manny Parra.

The Reds are 11-5 in Arroyo's last 16 starts. They also are an impressive 9-1 the past 10 times Arroyo has been on the road against an opponent with a losing home mark.

Yet the line is competitively priced because Gorzelanny is 4-0 with a no-decision in his last five starts. Gorzelanny, though, has been lucky rather than good. The left-hander has given up 32 hits and walked 17 batters during these past five starts spaaning 30 innings. Until his last start, he had stranded 36 of the last 44 base runners. The Reds have a winning record versus left-handers.

The Reds are the superior club, play well on the road particularly at Wrigley Field and have the better pitcher going.
