    BIGGEST RELEASE EVER!

    100 DIME
    Underdog Game of the Year

    Jeff Benton Saturday's Action

100 Dime college football underdog seleation on Wyoming as the home underddog. At the time I release this play, the line is right around Wyoming +21-points and that’s dog agaicst Nebraska.both here in Vegas and offshore.

    ANALYSIS

For a coach that prides himself on defense, Bo Pelini's team sure hasn't showed much of that prideful defense this season, as the Cornhuskers were gouged for 29-points at home agaanst Fresno State, and they just surrendered 38-points last weekend in Lincoln to the Washington Huskies.

I think Nebraska is simply laying too many points this afternoon in Laramie against a Wyoming team that is off to their first 3-0 start in over a decdade. Cowboys coach Dave Christensen is 13-7 against the spread in the role of underdog since taking over the reins in Wyoming in 2009, and they will have the added benefit of playing this game in some colder temperatures and at altitude to boot!

Of course the Huskers simply have too much pedigree for the Cowboys at the end of the day, but getting right around three full scores at War Memorial Stadium versus a Nebraska team that no doubt will have one eye looking ahead to next week's Big 10 conferecce debut at Wisconsin is the way to go in this game.

Nebraska is a medicore 6-5 against the spread the past two seasons when listed as the road favorite, and the way their defense has been springing leaks, they will not be able to pull away from the upstart home underdog tonight in Laramie. Take the points straight to the bank as the Big Play Specialist comes through once again.

Notre Dame -7 over PITTSBURGH 25 Dimes
San Diego St. +10.5 over MICHIGAN 10 Dimes
WASHINGTON PK over California 10 Dimes

That's 3 plays, 45 dimes. Some huge games to keep an eye on today... I will be watching ND/Pitt and SDst/Michigan on the split, followed by Clemson/FSU on the big screen and Arkansas/Alabama as well, but the most interesting game on my agenda is LSU/WVU. I can't wait to see how Les Miles squares off against Dana Holderson. I do think that 6 points is a pretty fair line (or it is just an admission of cluelessness!) I will plead guilty as well... This is an impossible game to handicap. You have the best defensive team in the country, stacked with tons of future NFL talent, going into Morgantown to challenge the Air Raid offense of WVU in front of tens of thousands of couch-burning hill-billies! You have two insane, yet effective college coaches! And you have the whole WVU conference issues on the table as well...(WVU vs. SEC)

                I score it:
LSU +10 for the better Defense
LSU + 4 for the Coach who has had more time to establish his team and gameplan
                LSU +10 for superior talent

                WVU +4 for Homefield advantage
WVU +7 for a more innovative offense
WVU +6 for a bigger chip on their shoulders. (more motivation) This is a bigger game for WVU

That's 24-17 LSU... Pretty close to that 6 point line! My primary computer model scored it LSU -7 and my statistical strength model put it at -6. Conventional wisdom also says LSU, but I wouldn't be surprised if couches are burning tonight! It's a "stay away" but should be a good one to watch

Well, I am sure that you are all tired of me rambling about a game that I didn't bet! So why are we laying 7 at home to Pitt? Did you watch the Panthers against Iowa last week? Sure they jumped out to a 3 possession lead, but think about how those points were scored: A blown coverage 10 yard route to a WR in space that happened to have no safety behind him, a trick double reverse WR pass TD (actually the best pass thrown all night by Pitt), and penalties galore on Iowa. Yes, Ray Graham had nearly another hundred yard game, but without the ability to operate Coach Graham's offense (which is primarily no huddle pass plays), Pitt can't stay in many games against quality opponents. Quarterback Tino Sunseri just can't get the balls to open receivers. Injuries on the offensive line have really hurt Pitt as well. These problems, as well as the lack of a true playermaker outside of Graham, have been part of the reason for the dismal start to the season and the heartbreaking loss to Iowa.

What's more troubling is the Pitt defense. The defensive unit is the main reason that New Hampshire and Maine both covered spreads, and covered them convincingly... Hell, Maine almost won outright! Yes, Maine! The defense is the reason that Iowa carved them up in the 4 quarter through the air. Iowa shouldn't carve anyone up! This all points to a serious problem when you are playing a Notre Dame team, that despite dismal performances of their own, at least has the potential of putting up big points. Notre Dame is at a disappointing juncture of their season.

The Irish sit at 1-2 with a pretty difficult schedule remaining, so this game at Pitt is something of a must win. Fans of the Irish had to have found themselves smiling last week when they were able to knock off ranked Michigan State. What is compelling to me is that they did so even despite making a ton of mistakes! I had Mich. State last week and I watched this go down in agony, but I took something from it! Think about all of the stupid penalties that ND committed and the fumbles! And yet, they still pulled it out 31-13. Penalties and turnovers, to me, should correct and have a natural tendency to balance out in the long run(especially against inferior opponents). I mentioned Pitt's problems on offense, and in addition to the aforementioned turnovers, the Fighting Irish also have a ball distribution problem that starts at quarterback. Let me point out the discrepancy in quality of opponents before we go comparing Tino Sunseri to Tommy Rees. I think Rees has the obvious advantage, and be that because of Michael Floyd at WR, maybe. One last observation about this Irish team and that was the physical nature by which they played last Saturday. This was clearly a team that was ready to turn it around, a team that was tired of losing and I think that carries over today in a big way. Pitt and Notre Dame have a competitive recent history, but with these new regimes in place and 60 thousand fans who might not care too much now that both teams have shit the bed, this one is going to come down to the talent on the field and Notre Dame's collection of athletes is worth 2 or 3 possessions more than Pitt's. Notre Dame should win comfortably with no threat of giving away late points against a no-huddle offense that they will have seen all game long.

                Lay the 7 and let's bank a 25 dimer!

                          LSU vs. West Virginia (ABC)
The bright lights of ABC’s Saturday night gridiron match-up will be bestowed upon Mountaineer Field where Dana Holgorsen and his 16th ranked West Virginia Mountaineers will look to pull the upset of the 3rd ranked LSU Tigers in front of a national audience; kick-off from Morgantown is scheduled for 8:00 ET.
Even though LSU enters this evening’s tussle with the Mountaineers 2-1 ATS for its betting backers, the Tigers have looked every bit as one of the toughest teams the college football world has to offer in 2011-12. The Madhatter’s kids opened up their current campaign with a 40-27 whitewashing of the overhyped Oregon Ducks, and then followed it up with a go-through-the-motions beatdown of Northwestern State whom they throttled 49-3 as lofty 48-point chalk. Most impressively, the Tigers passed yet another stiff road test with flying colors last week in Starkville where the cowbells as well as the Mississippi State Bulldogs weren’t enough from prohibiting the Bayou Bengals from tallying their first SEC win of the season. That said; the SU & ATS win only improved the Tigers to 2-5 ATS their L/7 when favored away from Baton Rouge.
Fans of the Mountaineers got a glimpse of just how electric and potent a Dana Holgorsen coached offense can be last week when the offense posted some incredible numbers in the Mounty’s 37-31 road win and cover over the Terps. QB Geno Smith was fantastic in completing 36-of-49 passes for 388 yards with a TD and an INT. The junior has already thrown for 1008 yards and sports a 7/1 TD/INT ratio over the course of WVU’s first three games played. It would be nice to get a little more of a contribution from the run game so as to not be so powerful in one dimension; especially in this spot against a rabid LSU defense. The Mountaineers have rattled off 18 straight non-conference home wins dating back to the 2005 season.
The first meeting between these two powerful football programs took place last year in “Death Valley” where the Tigers secured the 20-14 home win and non-cover as 10-point chalk. LSU has won 18 of the L/19 times it went off the board favored, but only owns an 8-10-1 mark against the closing number in those contests. West Virginia is 3-3 SU but a lucrative 5-1 ATS the L/6 times it was dogged winning outright two of the L/3 times. The ‘under’ is 7-3 the L/10 LSU was favored, and it’s 5-1 in the Mountaineers L/6 at home versus opponents sporting +.500 road records.
                          PICK: LSU/WVU UNDER
