I hope you're right. I'm not counting on it, but it wouldn't exactly surprise me either. Most people don't seem to be giving Kampmann much of a chance, talking about it almost like it's a lock for Shields, but I don't buy it.

In any case, only time will tell and we'll find out tomorrow.

If you're forcing bets it might just backfire. Just my opinion but do what you want

I only saw the last 3 weighins but :

Shields looks small at 170, Ortiz is shredded , and Brock came in at 264 only 21 pounds bigger than Cain

I know I said I was going to bust out some old school breakdowns for this event, so let me go ahead and get this one out while it's fresh in my mind. . .

                              Stout vs Taylor

I originally thought that Stout was going to have the sex with Paul Taylor, but now I'm not so sure. I think I had someone else in mind when I thought about Paul Taylor. I have a problem doing that with fighters I'm not particularly familiar with and it seems that that little bit of absentmindedness has struck again.

As a striker-vs-striker match, I expect this fight to be close, just as most all of Stout's fights are close. Both fighters come from kickboxing backgrounds and both have held titles in that sport. As such, I expect this one will primarily take place on the feet. However, both fighters also have shown a tendency to go for takedowns when things aren't going their way or to try to steal a round, such as at the end of Stout's fight with Etim, and I wouldn't be terribly shocked to see either fighter attempt that here. Stout and Taylor have both shown weakness on the ground, as well as improved ground skills with each new fight, and it could possibly be either fighters' plan to exploit the other's weakness with what they may feel is their own superior grappling abilities. If that happens, flip a coin.

However, if the fight stays on the feet, I think we'll see one of two outcomes: Stout will outpoint Taylor with his technical striking and superior defense, or Taylor will outpoint Stout with his aggression, speed, and "relentless" pace. Here's a case where a fighter (Taylor) lives up to his nickname, as he always moves forward and he just doesn't quit.

The likelihood of one outcome or the other may come down to cardio. Both fighters have a good gas tank and have shown that they can go 3 rounds with no problem, keeping up a steady pace the whole way through. However, with this being Taylor's first time cutting to 155, it's a huge question mark as to how it will effect him. He could look better than ever having now found his "true" weight class, or it could turn into an embarrassing James Irvin-esque affair.

So who wins this thing? If I seem indecisive, that's because I am. There are so many factors at play here and it's difficult to know the direction this fight goes. So in my mind there are only two plays here: Taylor or stay away. For me, I think Taylor at +170 is worth a small bet and I've put .59u on him at that line.

Re: UFC 121 Lesnar vs Velasquez

Let's see. Taylor hasn't fought in 11 months, and:

"Taylor was supposed to next face John Gunderson at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi, UAE. This would have been a change in weight classes for Taylor, dropping from 170 to 155 to fight as a lightweight in the UFC, but due to complications after making the weight cut, Taylor was not medically cleared to fight."'

He had troubles @ LW before he could even fight.

Taylor also is a shitty grappler. He has poor TDD, so if Stout is having trouble on the feet, I am sure if he decides to go and grapple he will get the job done there. Taylor is 2-4 in the UFC, his wins are decisions over Peter Sabotta and Jesse Liaudin (split decision)...wait...who?

I see Stout as the more technical fighter, and Taylor more as of a shitty brawler.

I think Stout will win a lopsided decision.
