I would really like to see Shields/Fitch. I think that would be really interesting. My guess is that Fitch would beat him, but Shields was able to handle Askren's wrestling pretty well. And apparently Shields beat Fitch in a grappling match. But Fitch is a way better striker, and Shields is not submission machine.

I think that fight happens next. It's a great fight, but I'd love 5 rounds of it, as dreadful as it might be.

I agree. Shields isn't going to beat guys he cant outwrestle. GSP, Koscheck, and Fitch, I think would all beat him.

How was he not going to beat Jacare? I would favor Jacare in that matchup as well but it isn't like Shields can't win that fight the same way Jacare can. It would come down to who has the better positioning and it would be an extremely technical fight. I agree he needs to go back up to 185 because as Rogan mentioned before the fight he spent so much time up at 185 he put on alot more muscle to stay effective and size appropriate. Kampmann definitely came close to winning that fight, had he forced Jake to stand in the third round I think he could have landed the knee or two more he needed to put Shields away. Holy fuck though Shields is a positioning wiz. He was passing into mount at will in there.

Also, that grappling match between Fitch and Shields happened three years ago. I think if they fought right now Fitch would win via top control positioning because Shields isn't exactly a bottom game guy. He would likely sweep and end up on top a few times himself but I just don't see him subbing Fitch if he couldn't sub Kampmann. I'm not saying Kampmanns ground game isn't officially getting the credit it's deserved for a long time, but Fitch has never been easy to sub(seeing as it's only ever happened once).

So... as a fan of Nogs, dare I hope that Cain's dominant striking performance over Lesnar (and Mir's over Cro Cop) means that Zombie-Nog isn't necessarily as zombified as I feared? Or am I only setting myself up for disappointment?
