I haven't max deadlifted since I was in HS. I could do over 400 then (weighing about 160 or 170). But I can't squat shit. I probably can't even do 300 pounds. I just can't get confortable with it. I have a naturally head forward posture, and I just have a lot of trouble with that movement. Plus I hate it, I have been doing it alot though at pretty light weights.

Jesus I would probably have trouble deadlifting 200 pounds. I have never even tried it before. I am 5'11'' and about 183 pounds

It is funny , I always pictured wiseman as a small skinny guy and Edman as a big fat bastard.

I was at s uper secret sportsbook (sorry can't tell you guys, no one knows about it even though it is one of the most well known books in Vegas), anyway, I was meeting my inside source there (can't tell you, but trust me, it's good). So he told me Pat Barry's wrestling is actually the best in the division. He is trying out for the olympics in Greco. But they are having trouble because his quads are so huge and his physique is so ripped that they can't get a singlet to fit him. My source tells me his quads are 31" and his calves are 20". He is going to wear a super suit to make it fair though.

It sucks being in that position. All through high school and my early 20s my weight fluctuated between 116 and 125. When I first joined a gym after moving to Dallas in 2004 I weighed an astonishing 114 pounds. When I weighed in for my judo tourney in 2005 I was 123.

Now that I've gotten a little older and my metabolism has started to slow down it's gotten easier to put weight on. I'm not sure exactly how much I weighed when I first moved to Salt Lake in 2007, but it was under 130. Now I'm almost 150 and I haven't even been trying that hard. (It's not all muscle either, unfortunately.)

Now I'm back in the gym and really making a push to accomplish some serious things this year.

My plan is to try to hit 160 within the next 4 months, and then take two months to cut down to 10% bodyfat (which will probably put me somewhere in the low 150s I would guess). Then I want to start over, get up to 170, and then cut down again, ending up somewhere in the 160s at somewhere under 10% BF.

Ultimately I think I'd like to be about 180. But right now I'll get into the 160s and see how I feel.

Why so big? 150 seems like a perfectly acceptable weight to me. I wouldn't mind weighing 150. But I have to agree, that given the choice between a somewhat soft 200 and a lean 116, I would definetely opt for the pudgy 200. 120 is just too light for me... I could live with 140, that is about as light as I would like to be though. I can see how it would be frustrating I guess. My brother in law is like 5'0 and you can tell that it has had a big effect on his life.

                              A couple of reasons.

One is simply pragmatic and comes down to being able to deal with bigger dudes if a fight breaks out. At 5'7"ish, I am already at a height disadvantage. But if I can get up to a solid 180 then I'd actually be heavier than a lot of dudes, and for the guys who are like 200 but unskilled I imagine my training (as minimal as it has been) should be able to make up for the extra 20 lbs.

The other reason is that I've always been semi-obsessed with bodybuilders. Not so much the HUGE roided out motherfuckers like Ronnie Coleman, but the older generation of dudes like in Pumping Iron and guys like Van Damme back in the day. I think it's awesome when someone basically crafts himself like a sculpture.

If you want to see my ideal physique for myself, considering my frame and height, go watch Satoru Kitaoka in his fight with Clay French. Kitaoka looked awesome.
