reeped. People just suck some major dick at counting calories and overestimate the fuck out of their portion sizes. Actual obese people that eat in a caloric deficit drop a shit ton of weight FAST (lots of water weight at first because their glycogen levels are gonna be way down in the sudden change of food). Just look at the biggest loser (I know they do a vigorous exercise program too), but one guy lost 32 lbs in ONE week....and yes I know not much of that was actual fat, but it's just a point I am making. He is probably in a huge deficit though. When you are 400+ lbs your maintenance calories are 4000+, and they probably dropped him to 1500-2000 immediately.

True, the larger you are (and the more muscle you have) the more you burn just by existing. But I think it is pretty well established that if you go into too much of a deficit, your body will go into "starvation mode" and the base metabolic rate will go way down. Also, every pound you drop, your body uses fewer and fewer calories at rest (unless you are also adding muscle)...
But yeah, for most people... it is going to work.2012: +19.33

Basically. I think cardio is key. When I am dieting my results suck when I am not sticking to my cardio. I think AM cardio is the best too fwiw.Comment

Im down about 60lbs. hovering around 300. I havent been cutting anymore weight, just out of lazyness, but I still lift with my son 3x a week. Zero cardio right now though.
My Diet is super clean from the time I wake up until around 6pm, then I binge eat . I get on average about 750-800 cals during the work day in 4 small meals, after that, I go in for the kill when I get home.
When I am actually working out hard, and dieting 7 days a week, I like to eat 3 eggs and 4 strips of bacon for breakfast. 370 calories. If I add a banana or something like that, it ends up around 500 cal.Comment

I know that is super controversial, but in my experience, AM Cardio on an empty stomach gave me better results, so I agree with you.Comment

Yeah, it just makes sense to me too. There is a reason why a huge percentile of the top BBers do it. Best times are AM or PWO. Any other time is OK imo, but it won't be nearly as good as the other two I just mentionedComment

a homemade turney sandwich with a lsice of cheese is almost 400 cals. Add in a banana and you are 550 cals just for your sandwich and fruit. No drink, no chips... 2000 cals a day for me, I have to actively diet to hit that low of a number.2012: +19.33
