Well what the fuck are they talking about here then:

Folk wrestling describes a traditional form of wrestling unique to a culture or geographic region of the world that FILA does not administer rules for. Examples of the many styles of folk wrestling, include Backhold Wrestling (from Europe), Cumberland Wrestling and Catch-as-catch-can (from England), Kurash from Uzbekistan, Gushteengiri from Tajikistan, Khuresh from Siberia, Lotta Campidanese from Italy, Pahlavani from Iran, Pehlwani from India, Penjang Gulat from Indonesia, Schwingen from Switzerland, Shuai jiao from China, Ssireum from Korea.
Folk wrestling styles are not recognized as international styles of wrestling, by FILA.

It just transfers better to mma. I wouldn't worry too much.
You think Cane will be able to handle Nedkov? Or did you even look at this fight?

Well, FILA is the international body which only recognizes Greco and FS. In America we call our style folkstyle.

see here: http://www.themat.com/results.php?Category=National You will see the styles as fresstyle, greco, folkstyle.

Here in America, Folkstyle refers to NCAA style wrestling. If you look at the website, FILA (which is the international wrestling body) does not sponsor the folkstyle wrestling, they are sponsored by the USA Wrestling, which is the US governing body.

That said, it is only done in America that I know of, so I guess the definition by FILA is correct, it is a local style.

But IMO, it is the best style for MMA.

It is also the reason some NCAA champs don't seem to have that great of takedowns. Some guys are just really good mat wrestlers. Ben Askren is one of those guys, he was a really good mat wrestler, his takedowns were good also of course, but his style was difficult to translate to freestyle because he often willingly exposed his back to gain a reversal. In FS, that costs you points. Askren also said that BJJ is closer to folkstyle wrestling than FS is. I don't agree with that, but I understand his point. In the international styles, control and position are not really important.

I have looked at it briefly (just long enough to know I don't want to be it). But he wanted ot stand with Wiuff didn't he? He didn't get a takedown, he dropped him. I couldn't load the Randleman vid. Cane is pretty long though, he will have to get through that. I personally think Cane will win and he will be able to stuff him enough to win a decision or finish him late.

Watched Randleman vid, first 2.5 rounds anyway. Not much happened on the feet. The fight was mostly a wrestling match. It was pretty even, Randleman had a slight edge in the wrestling though. I would say Ned landed more g and p. Ned is a brute though with pretty decent wrestling. He has to be decent if he can hang with Randleman right? I wouldn't be shocked to see him go out and take down Luis pretty easily. Luis seems to be a pretty heavy hitter though. Tough call.

I'm not sure what to think of Cane. Sometimes he looks awesome. Sometimes he doesn't.

He doesn't seem to have a great chin, though. I can say that much.

Cane's chin was very good til he fought Cantwell. I believe Cantwell cracked his chin and lil Nog destroyed it. I lean toward Cane but I dont know about his wrestling so I stay away from this fight. Dont like this card for betting. Odds suck.

With the Barboza line, they opened him at like -240 or something, and when a line opens/I get the BFO alert on my phone, I just keep refreshing the page and watch how the line moves....I saw Barboza @-185 and knew that was gonna be the cheapest I'd get him.

With UFC lines in general (on 5 dimes), they will release one line at a time, but they do it throughout an hour. For example...the other day they released Tavares/Fisher, and I just stayed on that page and kept refreshing and random UFC fights will pop up...this particular time they released the Tavares/Fisher, Miller/Palhares, Gomi/Diaz, and Browne/Broughton lines in a row, but I was able to see the opening lines before BFO even got them.

With UFC prelims...I usually keep Bookmaker up on Tuesdays and refresh it occasionally because they always come out on Tuesdays for PPVs.
