^^ I have Diego winning that. I actually don't see a clear path to victory for either guy really, tough fight to cap... I think either guy has value @ +odds. Thiago sure as hell isn't going to finish him. I think it is close everywhere, slight grappling edge to Diego, size and striking edge to Thiago... either guy could get the top position.
I think Diego wins a decision by staying busy for the full 15. But it is very close.
Actually a prop bet for a decision might be the way to go. Both guys are extremely durable and tough to finish. Neither is likely to be submitted. A referee stoppage is about the only way this thing gets stopped short of a decision.
So pissed that I missed diego as the underdog. Fuckkkkkkkkk
Lol why? Its not like Sanchez is going to win anyway. I cant believe Thiago is the dog now. I thought Thiago -190 was about right odds truthfully
I think Sanchez is going to out grapple Thiago tbh, and keep the pressure on him the entire fight and grind him out. Thiago just stalks his opponents and throws wild punches. He was taken down and controlled by Swick in R1. He was controlled on the ground by Kampmann. He was controlled on the ground by Volkmann (well it was back and forth). He was obviously controlled on the ground by Fitch. I just think @+150 Sanchez was definitely the right play.
Thiago is the better submission guy from an offensive standpoint but Diego is incredibly tough to submit. Dude had moderate Success in his submission grappling competitions, not to mention he went almost twelve full minutes against and still didn't get subbed by Marcelo Garcia. Thiago has about zero chance of subbing him unless he rocks him something fierce and follows him to the ground ala Mike Swick. I can't see either guy winning this by any other way than submission. Both have great chins and above average ground skills, that said I think Diego outworks Paulo to a decision. The pace he pushes is hard for alot of guys to deal with, I don't know if Paulo has an answer for it, especially getting worked the way he did by Kampmann.

That's interesting. I would have thought Thiago was the better submission guy.
He might have better finishing skills, but Diego is an underrated grappler. He is a legit Saulo Ribiero blackbelt, which says a lot. Even before he trained with Saulo he hung in there against Marcelo in ADCC. He has never been out of position once in any fight I have seen. Never had his guard passed that I remember. Diego also has pretty good wrestling. I think it will be a positional battle IF they come in wanting to grapple.
